Energon
Stars
Airdate: 2/7/04
The episode begins with an adult Alexis arriving at Ocean City for a meeting concerning
the attack on the Mars base and the threat of the drones released in the first
episode. The drones are called Terrorcons and Alexis shows footage taken after
the attack on Mars with Terrorcons harvesting energon from a weakened Tidal Wave
somewhere in space. Alexis suggests an evacuation of Ocean City because of a treaty
stating that no Transformers will attack each other on Earth. Optimus recommends
that all the humans evacuate except for Kicker and that the Autobots and Demolisher
will remain to defend the city.
Ironhide is given the task of working with Kicker and in an expository flashback,
he explains how the Autobots are able to powerlink together. The scene abruptly
shifts to an overzealous Cyclonus waiting for the Terrorcons to attack the Moonbase.
The Terrorcons then indeed attack (to the surprise of the Autobots on Earth) and
Prime sends Jetfire and Kicker to the moon to aid Cyclonus. The rest of the Autobots
raise Ocean City to prepare the spacebridge for transport to the Moonbase. Before
leaving Ocean City, the Omnicons appear and give the Autobots “energon stars,”
explaining both the title of the episode and the translucent plastic that the
basic size figures come with. The energon stars are supposed to give the Autobots
a boost in energy and improve their firepower.
Kicker pilots Jetfire into a long, intense dogfight with the avian Terrorcons
until the rest of the Autobots arrive. Once Prime and the other Autobots arrive,
more fighting ensues until Prime reluctantly sends Ironhide into the mining base.
Ironhide reaches the mining area and barely manages to defeat several Battle Ravages
as his energon (and the rest of the Autobots’ energon) runs out. Kicker arrives
just as Ironhide is about to touch a Terrorcon energon star and warns him not
to touch it, but Ironhide ignores him and gets zapped by the raw energon. Most
of the Terrorcons are able to escape with energon because the Autobots have to
come to Ironhide’s aid. Ironhide chastises himself, Kicker chastises Ironhide,
and then Prime chastises Kicker…in the most hilarious manner possible. Kicker
and Ironhide reconcile in a manner and the episode ends with Demolisher questioning
the Autobots about Cyclonus and Tidalwave. Prime ponders their disappearance and
the mysterious figure from the first episode narrates about a Decepticon army
rising from the ashes and then cuts to Scorponok, a new menace for the Autobots.
