29. The Return of Optimus Prime (Part 1)

Out in space, two human astronaut doctors named Jessica Morgan and Greggory Swaford are testing the heat-resistant metal on their space ship, when they come across another space ship out in space. They turn their monitor on and they see that the dead body of Optimus Prime is piloting the ship. Greggory has a flashback of a time when Optimus Prime and Megatron had a fight in his laboratory. An accident happened that caused Greggory to have a huge scar on his face, and he blamed Optimus for it. Jessica tells Greggory that they must save Optimus before his ship crashes into the sun and he is destroyed. The two enter Optimus' ship against Greggory's wishes. They manage to save Optimus' body just in time and get it into their ship before Optimus' ship crashes into the sun and is destroyed. When Optimus' ship crashes into the sun, some kind of spore coats the doctors' ship and they manage to escape and return to Earth. On Earth, Jessica's dad, Mark Morgan tests the spores from their ship on two rats in a cage. The spores infect one rat's body and it starts to attack the other one. When it touches the other rat, it catches the virus from the spores and they both try to destroy each other until they are separated from a sheild that splits the cage in half. Mark and Greggory decide that they should study the spores, but Jessica thinks that it is a bad idea and that the spores should be gotten rid of. At that time, the Terrorcons attack the laboratory and claim that Galvatron wants the heat-resistant metal. The Technobots then arrive and start fighting with the Terrorcons. The Terrorcons then merge into Abominus, followed by the Technobots who merge into Computron. Abominus manages to defeat Computron and he breaks into the scientists' laboratory and steals the metal. The Terrorcons then escape and leave the Technobots to deal with the humans. It seems that Jessica got seriously injured during the battle and the Protectobots arrive to help her. They put her into First Aid and the Protectobots take Jessica to a hospital. Mark and Greggory are angry that the Autobots and Decepticons caused Jessica to be hurt and they vow to get revenge by instilling the spores that produce hate into the body of Optimus Prime, which they have in their lab. They plan on turning Optimus Prime from the Autobots' leader into their destroyer. A few days later, Jessica awakes in the hospital and Mark goes to see her. He is not pleased as he sees that Jessica's legs were paralized in the attack and that the Protectobots built her an exo-skeleton so that she could walk again. He says that the Autoobots are the cause of her misfortune and the two of them leave. Back at the lab, the attempts to revive Optimus Prime and instill him with the hate plauge spores are unsuccessful. They decide to burn Optimus' body so that they can use his metal to make more of their alloys. Jessica tries desperately to save Optimus and tells her dad that Optimus Prime is the Autobots leader and that they can't destroy his body. Greggory says that Jessica is right. Optimus is the Autobots' leader, if the others knew where he was, they would come for him. When they come, the hate plauge spores will be waiting for them. Mark tells Jessica to go find the Autobots and tell them that they have Optimus' body. Jessica says that the Autobots aren't their enemies, but Mark suggests otherwise, seeing what they did to Greggory's face and Jessica's legs. Mark asks her to help him again and she reluctantly excepts. Jessica finds Ultra Magnus and tells him of her father's plan and she and Ultra Magnus go to talk to Rodimus Prime. Rodimus is seen talking to a statue of Optimus Prime, telling it that he knows that he is not the leader that Optimus once was. Ultra Magnus and Jessica tell Rodimus that her father wants her to betray the Autobots. Jessica then tells Rodimus that they have Optimus' body, but that he is not alive. Rodimus tells Ultra Magnus that they have to retrieve Optimus' body so that they can put him in a place where he can rest in peace. Jessica reminds Rodimus that it is a trap, but Rodimus doesn't care. Rodimus puts together an assault force made up of himself, Ultra Magnus, the Aerialbots, the Protectobots, the new Throttlebots, Kup, Blurr, Wheelie, Bumblebee, Steeljaw, and Jessica and they all go to the scientists lab. Meanwhile, Ratbat reports to Galvatron and Soundwave of what the Autobots are up to. Galvatron says that Optimus Prime may yet live, but not for much longer. Later, the Autobots arrive at the scientists' lab. Ultra Magnus, the Aerialbots, and Throttlebots are sent in to distract Mark and Greggory while Rodimus and Jessica go and get Optimus' body. Rodimus sends the rest of the Autobots out to make sure that the Decepticons don't interfere with this matter. Rodimus and Jessica enter in the front of the building and they find Optimus' body. Jessica says that Optimus was in the back lab and Rodimus says that her father must have set a trap at the others. Rodimus and Jessica look through a large window and they see Ultra Magnus and the others get infected with the hate plauge spore and all the Autobots start attacking each other. The Aerialbots merge into Superion and go outside to fight the Protectobots who have merged into Defensor. The Protectobots realize that they can't beat Superion and they retreat to warn the humans of what has happened to the Autobots. Ultra Magnus starts looking for Rodimus so he can fight him. Rodimus and Jessica escape with Optimus on Rodimus' car mode back. Before they are able to leave, Galvatron and the Decepticons burst through the front door of the lab and they say that they have come for Optimus. The Throttlebots appear and touch all the Decepticons, except for Galvatron and they are all infected with the hate plauge and the Decepticons start fighting each other. Rodimus then tells Galvatron what has happened and suggest that he leaves and Galvatron retreats. Meanwhile, Kup, Blurr, and the other Autobots try to contain Superion, but he blasts all of them with his gun and they are all knocked out. At that time, Defensor tries to tell at the people to retreat while they still can. Superion shows up and touches Defensor and the Protectobots are now infected with the hate plauge. The Aerialbots and Protectobots then start fighting themselves. Later, Rodimus and Jessica arrive at Metroplex and Rodimus asks Wreck-Gar if he can do anything to repair Optimus and Wreck-Gar says that he can't. Rodimus then remembers that the Quintessons were the ones who first built Optimus and that they revived him once before (sort of). Rodimus then contacts Sky Lynx out in space and tells him to find a Quintesson and bring it to Earth so that it can repair Optimus Prime and bring him back to life. Sky Lynx agrees and sets out on his mission. Rodimus comes to the conclusion that if the hate plauge were to infect Metroplex, that it would spell danger for the entire planet Earth. Rodimus says that he has to shut down Metroplex and Metroplex says that he understands and agrees to Rodimus' decision. Just then, Ultra Magnus come up behind Rodimus to try and give him the hate plauge, but Rodimus is able to dodge Ultra Magnus and shut down Metroplex before Ultra Magnus is able to infect him with the hate plauge. Rodimus tells Ultra Magnus to fight the disease, not him. Ultra Magnus then chases Rodimus around the Autobot city until Ultra Magnus is tied up by Wreck-Gar. Ultra Magnus manages to pull Wreck-Gar close to him and he touches the Junkion, giving him the hate plauge. Wreck-Gar then in turn touches Rodimus and the Autobot leader is now infected with hate plauge and starts terrorizing the city. Later, a news report comes on TV saying that the hate plauge began with infected Transformers, but has now spread to the human population on Earth and the number of victims to the hate plauge is growing rapidly. On a Quintesson base out in space, a Quintesson is being chased by a group of infected Sharkticons. Sky Lynx shows up on the scene and agress to rescue the Quintesson if he will agree to bring Optimus Prime back to life. The Quintesson agrees knowing that he does not have a choice. Sky Lynx rescues the Quintesson from the infected Sharkticons and leave the moon base and go to Earth. On Earth, the Quintesson begins to work on Optimus Prime's dead body, but informs Sky Lynx that it is not going to be easy. Sky Lynx reminds the Quintesson to just do it right this time. The Quintesson gets Optimus Prime's circuits operational again and they begin the final test, to see if the two of them can get Optimus' brain back online. The Quintesson reminds Sky Lynx that if this doesn't work, that Optimus Prime will NEVER live again. The experiment is a success however and Optimus Prime gets out of the chair. The Quintesson and Sky Lynx are excited that Optimus Prime is back and Optimus tells Sky Lynx that this time, no force in the universe will stop him.


30. The Return of Optimus Prime (Part 2)

Optimus Prime lives again thanks to the help of Sky Lynx and the Quintesson. Sky Lynx tells Optimus that everyone in the universe is in grave danger. Sky Lynx then tells Optimus the story of how most of the Transformers and humans were infected with the hate plauge and how Rodimus Prime ordered Sky Lynx to find the Quintesson to repair Optimus before Rodimus himself was infected with the virus. Optimus Prime then asks Sky Lynx if any of the other Autobots avoided contamination. Sky Lynx says that there are a few, but those that have were injured fighting Superion. Sky Lynx says that Kup, Blurr, Blaster, Bumblebee, and Steeljaw are the last surviving Autobots and Optimus has the Quintesson to repair the damaged Autobots. The five Autobots awaken and can not believe that Optimus Prime is alive again. Bumblebee states that he has a new body and new gold paint job that the Quintesson gave him. Optimus then tells Bumblebee that because of his new look, he will now be called Goldbug. The Autobots then ask Optimus what his plan is for stopping the hate plauge. Since Optimus no longer posseses the matrix, he no longer has the ancient wisdom of the ancient Autobot leaders and can't come up with a plan. Optimus claims that if he can somehow get the matrix from Rodimus Prime without being infected, that he may be able to find away to cure everyone of the hate plauge. Jessica Morgan then introduces herself to Optimus as the woman who saved his life in the ship. She then tells Optimus that the metal that her and her father, Mark had been working on was uneffected to heat and radiation, but the Decepticons attacked the lab and stole all the metal they had. Optimus then states that if he can somehow coat himself with that metal, then it might protect him from the effects of the hate plauge and enable him to reclaim the matrix. Optimus and the Autobots then make a plan to find Galvatron and have him help then find the metal since he is the only Decepticon that hasn't been effected by the hate plauge. When Optimus and the Autobots find Galvatron, he is being attacked by Cyclonus, Scourge, and Predaking who are all infected with the hate plauge. The Autobots help out Galvatron and the Decepticons retreat. Galvatron agrees to join forces and help the Autobots to get the metal....for now. To get to the place where the Decepticons have stored the metal, Galvatron must take the Autobots through some rough terrain that won't be an easy track. Along the way, Galvatron and the Autobots encounter a large spider web. Galvatron says that the path looks clear and that they should hurry. When they start to cross the spider web, a giant spider appears out of nowhere and attacks the Autobots. Goldbug gets caught by the spider and the spider tries to eat him. Optimus and Blaster free Goldbug from the spider and it falls into a pit. Blurr also saves Kup from falling into the pit. Jessica says that Galvatron tried to set them all up, but Galvatron says that he was ready to help, but knew that they didn't need him. Kup starts to get real mad at Galvatron, but Optimus reminds him that the mission is what is important now, not Galvatron. Galvatron asks Optimus how the metal will be used and why it is so important. Galvatron points out that Optimus told him that the metal was important, but not exactly why. Optimus replies by saying that he knows Galvatron too well to tell him everything. Later, Galvatron and the Autobots encounter a swarm of energy eating bugs who try to suck the energy out of their bodies. Galvatron blasts them with his cannon and they are destroyed. At that time, Cyclonus, Scourge, and Predaking arrive in the tunnel and they affect all of the crew with the hate plauge except for Optimus, Galvatron, Sky Lynx, and Jessica. Galvatron blasts a hole in the ceiling of the tunnel so the infected Transformers won't follow them. Galvatron then takes the two Autobots and the human to the room where the special metal is and go inside. Galvatron then asks Optimus again what the cure is and how the metal is used to make it. Jessica then accidentally gives away Optimus' secret to Galvatron while she is examining the metal and he holds his cannon to Optimus' head and threatens to shoot. Galvatron says that he doesn't need the three of them anymore and says that he will not allow Optimus to lead the Autobots again. Jessica calls Galvatron a jerk and says that Optimus is trying to save everyone. Optimus then knocks the cannon out of Galvatron's hand. When Galvatron goes to pick it up, Sky Lynx grabs it and points it at Galvatron and says that he is going to be put to work. Galvatron then puts the metal into the back of Optimus' trailer and closes the door. At that time, Cyclonus finds the group and manages to infect Jessica with the hate plauge by touching her. Cyclonus then invites Galvatron to join him and Galvatron blasts Cyclonus with his cannon after he gets it back from Sky Lynx. Jessica then runs up to Galvatron and touches him and he is now infected with the hate plauge. Optimus and Sky Lynx barely manage to escape the group and return to Metroplex. Back at Metroplex, the Quintesson uses a machine to melt the metal and coat every inch of Optimus' body with it and Optimus' body turns white. Later, Optimus and Sky Lynx set out to find Rodimus Prime so that they can get the matrix. Rodimus is found racing against the Throttlebots. Rodimus makes a challenge to anybody to come and face him. Optimus and Sky Lynx arrive in the junkyard where Rodimus is and try to talk to him. Optimus tells Rodimus that madness has taken over the entire galaxy and that all the Transformers and humans threaten to wipe each other out of existence and that they need Rodimus' help. Rodimus pretends to listen to Optimus, then pulls his laser gun out and opens fire on Optimus. Optimus tells Rodimus that he doesn't want to hurt him and Rodimus says that he won't. Optimus then chases after Rodimus and finds him in a car factory. During the battle, Rodimus manages to grab ahold of Sky Lynx and he is now infected with the hate plauge and leaves. Optimus grabs ahold of Rodimus and puts him on a conveyor belt and tells Rodimus that if he is ever to be saved, that Optimus needs the matrix. Rodimus then brings out a blowtorch and tries to use it on Optimus, but the metal protects him from heat and he is uneffected by it. Optimus manages to land one swift punch and knocks out Rodimus and he takes the matrix out of Rodimus' body. Optimus returns to Metroplex and tells the Quintesson that if any cure to the hate plauge exists, only the ancient Autobot leaders within the matrix could possibly know it. Optimus then puts the matrix in his body and he disappears. Optimus appears inside the matrix and talks to Alpha Trion. Alpha Trion tells Optimus that he doesn't know of any cure for the hate plauge and reminds Optimus that if he goes too far into the matrix for the answer, that he may become lost and never find his way back. Optimus then tells Alpha Trion that if he does not try, then there may be nothing left to return to. At that time, all of the infected Transformers arrive at Metroplex looking for Optimus Prime. The Quintesson manages to close the city doors just before they get inside in the hopes that it will stall them long enough for Optimus to find the answers he needs. inside the matrix, Optimus speaks to an ancient Autobot leader who tells him that the only way to fight the madness is with wisdom. Unfortunately, no one person has the wisdom to contain the hate plauge, much less destroy it now that it has spread across the universe. Optimus says that perhaps a source of wisdom powerful enough to destroy the hate plauge does exist....the collective wisdom that resides within the matrix. At that time, Galvatron and the infected Transformers get inside of Metroplex to look for Optimus Prime. The Quintesson begs them to stop, but Galvatron says that Optimus Prime will die again. (Touch music starts) At that time, Optimus Prime's chest opens up and the matrix glows brightly. Optimus then pulls it from his chest and says "light our darkest hour". The energy within the matrix travels everywhere across the galaxy and all the Transformers and humans are cured of the hate plauge. Afterwards, Mark Morgan and Greggory Swaford appoligize to Optimus for releasing the spores that produced the hate plauge and shake his gigantic hand. Rodimus Prime has now turned back into Hot Rod and wonders if the war between the Autobots and Decepticons will continue. Galvatron then walks up to Optimus and tells him that there will be no war today and that Optimus has earned his respect. Hot Rod then notices that the matrix is empty, but Optimus tells him that the Autobots must fill it again with the wisdom that they gain from this moment on. Optimus then gives the order for the Autobots to transform and roll out.
