I can no longer post a reply, nor access my PM. I still have access to chat though.

Its probably due to my changing my e-mail address.

I've sent the request through the other thread, but have not received a response.

Help please.

you should be able to post now :)

2006-06-10, 07:07 PM
Thank you very much!

I am forever in your debt.

At least until I forget about it.

2006-07-27, 08:11 PM
This be Tetsuro. When I log in, it says my account is disabled, how come?

2006-07-27, 08:15 PM
You've been banned.

2006-07-27, 08:15 PM

Use of the word "gay" as a derogatory term just isn't on.

EDIT: I hate you Hound. I'm going to resurrect all Civ's old "Trailbreaker > Hound :D" desperate gimmickry if you try that again.

2006-07-27, 08:18 PM
...so you just banned me outright rather than giving me a friendly warning?

I also expected you guys to have a little more sense of humor than that.

Dude, it's not funny. It's not something you should need warning about... What if someone had said the test was as stupid as a n*gger?

2006-07-27, 08:26 PM
Oh, but it IS funny. What makes it even funnier is your reaction to it. You see, that's just the kind of blind, politically correct attitude I hate. You make judgements without even bothering to check out all the facts first.

Most of my friends are gay. When I meet my group of friends and say "Sup, fags?" (of course, I don't say that ALL the time), the only person who is offended is the straight guy because my statement excludes him.

My best friend is gay. When I told about this incident, he thought it was funny.

Hell, I'm bisexual myself so that almost makes me gay, too!

2006-07-27, 08:30 PM
But the problem is you're not with your buddies who've known you for years here (note how I'm not questionning your story, simply because you seem like a genuine guy - but anyone could say stuff like that :)).

We can't make allowances for people using derogatory terms ironically, because that way the fascists can just cry irony when they're called on something, ergo getting away with it.

Your comment was deemed offensive by a very even-handed moderator. It's up to him what happens now :)

2006-07-27, 08:31 PM
The use of the word "gay" in a derogatory manner is not permitted here. Regardless of your sexual preference.

Regardless of how your gay friends feel about the word or whether or not you have any prejudice against those who're gay.

You use that term in that context and you get to take a break.

The moral, just don't post that here!

2006-07-27, 09:02 PM
*sigh* I KNEW I should've used 'sucks' instead.

But I had no idea you you people would turn out to be so uptight...

2006-07-27, 09:20 PM
Sure, someone who's been around for a bit can ironically flame someone else who's been around for a bit, within reason.

On the other hand, I don't get to call you a f*cking arsehole on first meeting simply on the rationale that I can call Cliffy or Hound that. ;)

2006-07-27, 09:31 PM

I mean, it's applicable and everything, but still :(

2006-07-27, 09:32 PM
I don't think that analogy quite works here, because it's obvious that YOU've been here quite a lot.

But I'm not gonna go and put all the blame on you guys. I just so rarely join new forums...and I treat everyone like old friends from the start, resulting in little clashes like this.

There's also the element of that, after reading many of the threads here, you guys came off as way more...open-minded.

2006-07-27, 09:44 PM
Mostly because the idiots, on the whole, don't tend to last long...

I'm letting you back in. Try not to lapse into 14yo-GameFAQer modes of speech.

2006-07-27, 09:55 PM
Thanks. And here I was, thinking I'm just shooting myself in the foot here and was ready to shoot myself in the head instead...

2006-07-27, 09:59 PM
You're one of the best newbies we've had for a while on the whole, and it's cool we all (well, you all... I haven't actually really done much beyond threatening Hound...) sorted this out without bloodshed.

2006-07-27, 10:21 PM
Ummm...yes, thank you! That was my intention! *hides the unidentified corpse*

2006-07-27, 10:37 PM
You murdered Hound?

A promotion is in order...

2006-07-27, 10:41 PM
I never murder anyone! I am a nice guy, really!

It was an accident! Yeah, an accident.

I accidentally ran him over...had to reverse over him to see if he was okay. When I got out of my car to see if he was okay, being a good citizen like I am...this damn knife, it get slipping from my pocket and stabbed him 17 times. That was really annoying. And don't even get me started on my gun going off...

Really? I was thinking about another banning!

Hound! You're alive! :) O happy day!

On topic, I have a problem. Once, when I logged in, I could reply and stuff but under 'Serving the community since 1996' Instead of 'Logged in as dude851884 you have 15 messages 0 unread' There was still 'Log in and Register'. What's up with that??

2006-12-22, 02:30 AM
I can't get into my PM inbox, whenever I try, I get an error message that says that I don't have permission to access that page. Help?

2006-12-22, 02:38 AM
Now that you mention it....I'm also unable to look at the my stored messages.

2006-12-22, 02:46 AM
Tahuk again, I can't post either.

2006-12-22, 03:09 AM
Try it now.

Now that you mention it....I'm also unable to look at the my stored messages.
There's nothing that should be stopping you... have you got anyone on your ignore list?

2006-12-22, 03:26 AM
Okay, everything works now. What was wrong with it?

2006-12-22, 03:29 AM
No. That's not the problem as I receive PM's just fine, my concern is older messages. In the "logged in as" caption it states I have "5 messages stored". I'm unable to check them let alone delete these messages. Its no big deal, I was just wondering what was wrong.

Did you change your email address? The board was waiting for you to respond to an email reactivating your account -- unfortunately these can often get caught by spam filters, or take a while to come through.

It's the total number of messages in all folders, not just in your Inbox.

The reason I ask about ignore lists is because if someone's on yours, the counter will still register any messages from them but the messages willl be hidden in the Inbox display. The counter at the top doesn't actually use board code, it pulls data directly from the database tables.

Ice Shard
2007-03-23, 04:39 PM
it shows the page has expired thing from the internet explorer

2007-03-23, 10:45 PM
Just a timeout, then -- the site attracts a lot of traffic, especially when America's awake. You could try either hitting the 'back' button or whacking F5, but I don't think Internet Explorer automatically resends / prompts to resend form information.

If you've got the option, Firefox -- http://www.mozilla.com/ -- is a hell of a lot safer than Internet Explorer in general, not just useful in situations like that.

hi, i seem to be having a problem of accesssing and posting in the chat box although i have already posted in a few forums.

Can you try and find out if there is something wrong.

2007-06-11, 05:58 PM
Doesn't look as if there's anything wrong... does it say anything under the box?

(Also: what browser are you using?)

2007-06-11, 08:03 PM
Denyer, I keep trying to ban you but it keeps telling me I'm not an admin, and that I should **** off. Can you sort it out? kplsthnx!

2007-06-21, 12:45 AM
Erm...I have a bit of a problem here. I can't stay logged in after logging in. I seem to login in normally, then whenever I want to go to another page, I'm automatically logged out. I could be in the quickie login at the bottom of the main page or the formal login page and I get the same result.

I checked my cookies and they appear to be fine...could be wrong though. Strangely, I don't seem to have a problem with my account on TFW2005 and stay logged in over there just fine, which leads me to believe something with this site doesn't agree with my account. Anyone ever experience this?

2007-06-21, 01:14 AM
Not really -- been logged in on this machine for months at a time. What browser are you using, and have you tried clearing your cache and cookies? Does the problem occur in other browsers?

2007-06-21, 01:29 AM
I tried resetting my internet browsers for both Firefox and Internet Explorer. No change. Still can't stay logged in. Cleaned cookies and cache.

2007-06-21, 02:11 AM
Settings are correct in your account (they're the same as mine in this respect) -- are you using a firewall other than the one built into XP/Vista? I seem to recall ZoneAlarm having cookie-specific settings, though the last time I used it was several years ago.

Any third-party ad blockers or other traffic filters? Company network proxy server?

2007-06-21, 08:31 AM
I have no idea why I'm able to stay logged in now (for the moment) since all I did was shutdown for the night and then boot my computer back up. I don't even know why restarting my computer would have done anything that seemed to be a site-specific problem.

I do have Zonealarm Security Suite and it does have all sorts of blockers. Third party ad blockers, cookie blockers, and the rest of the works. I tried all of that last night by setting them on the lowest (least secure) possible settings and the problem still occurred. As for the server, it would be my home server -- Comcast. I don't know if that would play a role or not since I've been using them for over a year now without any problems.

2007-06-24, 09:02 PM
We've ruled out probable browser issues by trying multiple browsers. A generic problem on this server would affect lots of users, not just you.

If the modem was been powered down and back up as part of that boot sequence, you've probably been assigned a different IP and handling server. That shouldn't really make any difference unless Comcast has an unusual proxy setup. (If it was AOL I wouldn't be at all surprised.)

I don't know exactly how ZoneAlarm suite works, but it'll certainly be using a proxy of its own. It's possible -- quite likely, actually -- that changing its settings temporarily allowed the cookie to stick but a reboot was required to clear its proxy caches.

Quite why it would block forum cookies unless there's an existing rule in ZA that overlaps or someone's created accidentally ... dunno.

I've changed my e-mail address and now I can't participate in any contact with board members- pm, e-mail and topic replies/posts are not allowed.

Please help.

2007-07-23, 11:34 AM
Have you received a "need to reconfirm your account" email at the new address?

2007-07-24, 02:25 AM
Hi! Just registered yesterday afternoon, was sent the activation notice, activated account with apparently no problem, and promptly got stuck in limbo! The online listing showed that I was logged on, but when I tried to access my profile I got redirected to the not logged on/unregistered page, then found all the forums except this one were still read only--can't reply, etc--plus which I couldn't log off! Giving the computer a rest overnight seemed to clear the problem or so I thought. Logged back on about twenty minutes ago and I'm stuck again! I think the problem's due to my turning off an 'on' default setting that had to do with proxy links, but I can't get onto the profile page to change it. Other possible cause for the problem: I'm using a computer that goes through a government server which I know has its filters set on 'high'...your activation notice was tagged as 'possible spam' when it showed up in my in-box. If there are any real concerns about a site, it usually just gets filtered out entirely, though. (eg. ezboard.com) I've got accounts at other sites and have no trouble posting there. Any help for the helpless? This looks like a nice community and I'd love to participate as well as just read. Thanks!

If you tell me what you changed your e-mail address to (for account verification) and I can sort it.

@ Biddybot, I can only imagine it's because you chose to browse without cookies and the session is timing out as you're going. If you have access on your computer to check for them, it might be worth deleting the cookie associated with TFArchive (if there is one) and trying again.

2007-07-24, 06:23 PM
It's ste_latham001@yahoo.com. Sorry Skywarp.

2007-07-25, 02:02 AM
Bummer! I just deleted everything in my temp files, including everything tfarchive-related, and it hasn't changed anything. I'm still 'sort of' logged on right now and listed as being on-line beneath the forum index page, but trying to do anything, including trying to log off, redirects me to the page notifying me that I need to register first.

Is it possible for you to delete my account so I can try re-registering from scratch or should I try registering a second account under a different username? If the same thing happens even with the cookie option activated, then at least I'll know the problem's at my end and probably security-related.

account has been nuked, please try again :)

2007-07-27, 02:25 AM
Stonecold Skywarp: The problem is at my end. Re-registered as you suggested and the exact same things happened...your e-mail was tagged as possible spam, I can still only log on 'well enough' to be counted as being online, but can't actually do anything. On a hunch, I tried using a different public computer earlier today and of course everything was suddenly fine...had no trouble creating a new thread or posting a reply so I AM registered! It's gotta be the darn security blocks on my work computer. Still odd that your site comes up so readily then, even so...

Anyhoo, thank you for your patience and your help. I'll remain mostly a lurker from now on, but at least I now know I have an option should I wish to contribute to the forums and I hope to maybe chat at you there sometime in the future.

Thanks again and cheers!

I may not post new threads
I may not post replies
I may not post attachments
I may not edit my posts

Its probably something really obvious i've ballsed-up, but what can I do to change this???

2008-02-11, 07:56 PM
Did you change your email/password? You'd gotten dumped back into the Users Awaiting Email Confirmation usergroup... presumably there's an activation mail floating around somewhere either in your junk mail or cyberspace in general...

Try it now. :)
