Erm... woo? ebay should automatically block things like this. What the Hell am I going to do with Nightbeat? It's probably illegal to have it in the same house as some of the figures I have. The SoCs will gang up in the night and tear his crappy arms off.

Shame that by the time Furmo was in charge of primary characterisation, all the toys were pieces of shit, isn't it?

Cliffjumper
2008-10-06, 03:27 PM
Yup... but thanks to Ver Furm, they're expensive pieces of shit! Seriously, see how much more Thunderwing will cost you compared to Vroom...

I'm pretty sure I can resell for more if he turns out to be as shit as anticipated...

Never seen the toy from up a high up angle before, are those supposed to be police lights on the roof or are they just poorly disguised hinges?

Siren's the police car [or was it fire escort?], so what's your bet?

That they might be Takaraschoolgirls lights and this conclusively proves her toy was designed first and Nightbeat is the repaint? On the other hand, late 80's toy, hmmmm, hinges it is then.

I was outbid on a Needlenose this past Friday :(

I had a full-on jinx on Needlenose for something like 3 years. Finally got one... and he sucks a little. The head is really botched. Spinister's decent enough, though. It's weird - all the Decepticon Targetmasters are suprisingly good figures, compared to the shit released around them.

Clay

Well, the thing is...

A couple of years ago Osku helped me out with acquiring a complete Quake and Spinister. I had Needlenose when I was a kid, but now he's the only one of the three that I'm missing. I know full well what I'd be getting; it's just that I really, really want to stack all six Targetmasters on top of Quake for the ridiculousness of it :).

Quake's a streamline dream. Completely devoid of kibble... all he needs leg joints and he's about the closest the "original" line came to a design triumph.

He's not great, but he somehow manages to be fun despite the fact he's basically a giant Micromaster (granted, with a Headmaster component).

:)

He was my favourite of the 'Headmaster Juniors' (is there a more appropriate Western name?)... Alas, space, money, and the fiancee dictated that he must go (a while back).

That one looks in pretty good nick!

Enjoy!

Yeh, I'm pretty sure he can't actually be too bad. I just kinda need a Nightbeat figure, and as TFCC have cordened off the Classics angle by making their crap version, this one will have to do. Even if it looks nothing like Nightbeat...

Bah, my site needs more negative reviews anyway. Something's going to have to balance out Ideon.

Minvera came first.. heh... though I prefer Nightbeat as a toy.. slightly. Nightbeat isn't the worst of the period, but if you're used to anything released since, oh, 1990 or so, he's pretty bad. If it wasn't for Furman, no one would want him.

Pity the small guns are missing on the ebay auction. He looks weird without the antennae.. but now he's "Classics Accurate"!

Yeah, but Nightbeat wasn't in The Cartoon therefore isn't Real Transformers.

Is it me, or do both those Ironhides look rubbish? With the Tow-Line redeco being the least rubbish?

I dunno, it manages to be really cartoon accurate by being about as imaginative as Russell T. Davies.

Maybe they're saving Nightbeat for Masterpiece? Yoiu could bung an Action Man trenchcoat over him that way. Downside is the figure would be needlessly overcomplicated to fool people into thinking this somehow made it more grown-up. Actually, it'd just be a recolour of MP Convoy, wouldn't it?

I mean, that's a third of a Tetsujin-28

Well, we got RID Bruticus with an homage... and Nightbeat isn't anywhere near that obscure. I wouldn't completely rule out the possibility of a 'true' Classics Nightbeat, particularly now that Hasbro's aware of the 'fandom' popularity he has.

I wouldn't lay odds on it either, though.

He's actually not too bad, in that late 1980s way. I've put him next to Ideon, and Ideon has yet to develop sentience and just belt him off the shelf, which is a good sign. He's just a block of plastic, but somehow just works quite well... The deco is actually good, in a mad sort of way. Even the head isn't that bad (though Muzzle himself is shit, even by HM standards). Certainly hanging on to for a little while instead of immediately trying to shift. Glad I got the 'seat' though - what exactly were they thinking splitting an easy-to-lose component up so it had another, even easier to lose part?

Probably looking for a "snazzy feature" to complement the Small Targetmasters' "the gun splits into two Nebulans!" gimmick.

Sadly "the head splits into two parts" was about as misconceived as, erm... who can I really insult here... giving America independence? Yeah, that'll do.

Hey, if you had just given up a few seats of parliament to far-flung British citizens... :P

And, it's worse than that. The antennae are two small guns, the helmet is the seat, and THEN you get the headmaster. The small guns are almost always the first pieces lost. (I saw them seperately on Ebay for $10 a piece!)

Haven't gotten a Needlenose yet, but I did manage to get his Targetmasters on the cheap.

I was expecting them to be in the front hole, with the regular gunbarrel stuck on top.

Or would he actually topple?

Clay

No. But he does lean if I mount them on the arm.

Bumblebee works it, though.

Hmmm . . . judging from what he did to Nighbeat I'm going to say that he all ready has, and NB was mocking him by having a smoke himself . . .

Ideon can actually hold a cigarette... Nightbeat doesn't have the dexterity. But then Nightbeat has his shins fused together and no elbows, so...
