no one at all reading this one? Easily the best thing in the film Universe IDW have done. It's still a bit to profaced but is a 100% improvement on Megatron: Origin's attempt to cover similar ground. And Alex Milne isn't drawing it! Praise de Lord.

Actually, I just read it this weekend. I really enjoyed it. I like where I see them going with the idea of the Decepticon symbol.

There's always been...rumor...speculation...fandom thinking that the Decepticon symbol is based on Soundwave's face. Now, there is thinking that the face on the new poster is possibly the Fallen, and it kind of looks like a skinnier version of the Decepticon symbol. Couple that with me thinking originally (before the cobra hood stuff was revealed) that it was Soundwave on the poster....

Now, the Cybertronians find an ancient artifact with the face of some creature (presumably the Fallen) scrawled on the outside of this weird artifact...and that face looks an awful lot like the Decepticon symbol.

I don't know, I just like the imagery that is being conjoured from the idea.

That, and the story was pretty entertaining, too. Like id said above, it's a lot better than Megatron: Origins so far.

I'm reading this book and I'm really enjoying it. I'd say that it's a sort of War Within for the movie-verse, which in itself had a quite weak and non-existent background story/structure, ultil mr. Mowry came.
They should have had him write the G1 relaunch.

Not really much else to add here. I concur that this is definitely one of the better movieverse comics IDW has produced so far. Though I see the resemblance to War Within, it also has a Titan/Saga of the Allspark air to it. Not sure how compatible it would be with it though.

We get a good glimpse at pre-war Cybertron infrastructure and how everything was organised before factions. Well, it's nice to see Cybertronians battling things other than them selves at least. Not at all surprising, Megatron is a real prick and prepossessed by mysterious plot-devices, while Starscream is rather pleasant here.

A nice precursory that just may well give us more movie tie-ins than Alliance has (which has been more focused on media from the first movie).

3.5 out of 5.

Now I'm up to date with issue three:

This continues to be good solid fun. As with a lot of IDW stuff there remains a feeling that it could have been done better in less pages (at least as of issue 4 anyway) but there's still a nice sense of pace for the most part. I'm liking the way Prowl's War Within design has been buggered about with as well, still instantly recognisable as the character but not out of place with the other film designs.

Maybe. Personally, while I agree that there were areas that should have received less attention, I think some sections could've been expanded (perhaps in at least one additional issue). One area in particular, and really my only quibble with the issue, is how quickly Starscream and the others go from all chummy to "destroy the non-believers".

So, Ironhide almost became a Decepticon. Interesting.

Though the book addresses Megatron's, er, umm, origin in a simplistic fashion (basically, he was always a prick - a prick under the influence of a mysterious Eeee-vil), this is a suiting Decepticon origin story (unlike that other book). And though I rarely comment on art, Figureoa really does know how to capture the movie designs. Few have managed to translate them to paper effectively. Not bad.

Pretty much the same as before, nicely done if a little slight. I especially like the reasoning for the seeming giant coincidence of the All Spark and the Fallen/harvester happening to have wound up on the same planet.

I agree it's one of the better movieverse titles, but it honestly feels like they've made the best of a bad situation. The characters feel slightly off and Megatron as a political reformist really doesn't sit well.

As I said, decent title, but to be honest, it was hampered severely by being set in the movieverse.

I actually liked some of the moviebot designs in issue 4. Prime, Prowl, Bumblebee. I haven't been paying close attention, did Bumblebee always turn into a... beachball?

A bit late to the thread.....

I think my only complaint is the lack of actual character interaction towards the second half of the book. This issue starts where the last one left off and moves the story forward well enough, but the remainder of it is told almost entirely through montage and narration. I did enjoy it, but in the end it still kind-of reads like three issues worth of story rather than four. Then again, it serves as a good teaser for the upcoming flick. I also liked the tie-ins to the previous movie-verse books (the prequel for the first movie in particular), though. Depending how it's compiled, I can see Alliance/Defiance, along with the other movieverse books, working nicely in an Omnibus format.
