And I think at least one person who posts around here (work permitting ect).

I'm booked for the convention but haven't gotten the room yet due to no one wanting to buy a kidney off me.

Ah, that'd be sweet. Too bad I just finished A-Level and at the moment only have a semi-full-time job at Tesco

Is it a different country every time? Or will there be a UK event for me next year?

I'm booked for the convention but haven't gotten the room yet due to no one wanting to buy a kidney off me.

The Ibis Hotel is within easy reeling distance after a sojourn in the bar...http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-1459-ibis-birmingham-city-centre/index.shtml

I've managed to get a room for self and the two Scraplets for 42 a night, plus brekkie at 5.50 a pop (half that for youngest, who is 9). There are chuns of deals on, so keep your nerve and you should get a room at a reasonable price.

Heh, I've had to take three nights due to volunteering to help out over the weekend. Every penny saved is important...

Win a personalised recording by Neil Kaplan! (http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-news/conventions-15/auto-assembly-2009-press-release---win-a-personalised-recording-by-neil-kaplan-168103/)

As reported by Sol Fury of TFW2005:

We have received word from Auto Assembly about an exciting contest! One lucky full weekend attendee or non-attendee can win a personalised voice message recording by Neil Kaplan, the voice of Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime. All you need to do is purchase a WEEKEND ticket or a non-attendee package to be in the draw to win the prize! You can use the recording for anything you would like, provided it is for non-commercial use.

This is all subject to Auto Assembly getting enough attendees or non-attending packages for Mr Kaplan to attend - so be sure to buy your weekend tickets or non-attending packages now! The non-attendee packages include a whole host of great extras including autographs from all attendees as well as entry into the draw to win the voice recording, which is an excellent deal.

Find out all about the convention and how to book tickets at The Auto Assembly Homepage! (http://www.autoassembly.org.uk/) Click on the title of this story to read the full press release.

I have a bunch of news regarding Auto Assembly, so let's get to it.

Auto Assembly Booking Deadlines (http://www.transformertoys.co.uk/content.php?/transformers-news/story/8738/Auto+Assembly+Booking+Deadlines.html)

From Moonbug of TF @ the Moon:

Hi all,

Auto Assembly 2009 is just over four weeks away and is on course to set a new European attendance record from pre-registrations alone! However, as the date of the convention is closing fast, we felt that it was time to remind all of you who haven't already booked that you need to hurry if you haven't so you can get your tickets in advance so you don't have to worry about coming along and paying on the day...

We have now set the cut-off dates for pre-registrations so you can plan out when you will need to get your registrations in to us. The dates that your bookings MUST reach us are as follows:

Standard online bookings for weekend and one-day passes (UK):- 10th August 2009
Standard online bookings for weekend and one-day passes (International):- 3rd August 2009
Standard postal bookings for weekend and one-day passes (UK):- 5th August 2009
Standard postal bookings for weekend and one-day passes (International):- 3rd August 2009
Non-Attendee package purchases (worldwide):- 9:00 pm, 12th August 2009

Please note that these are the ABSOLUTE latest date that we can accept bookings and guarantee that your passes will reach you in time for the convention. If you book after these dates, we will do everything possible to get your passes to you before the convention takes place but please bear in mind the time taken for delivery and that we will have work pressures and we will be preparing, dismantling and packing all of our equipment for the convention on Wednesday 12th August so NO bookings will be able to be processed after 9:00 pm on that date.

We do anticipate that we will have on-the-door places available but at the moment we do not know how many of these there will be. These will be announced on the website once pre-bookings close but to ensure your place pre-registration is recommended.

We have now uploaded a full programme onto the website so you can see what will be taking place over the weekend on each day so you can see the benefits of attending for the full weekend and what you will miss if you only attend for the single day. We are still adding more though so this is still not a comprehensive list! We are also still in talks with up to SIX more guests and should be announcing more soon...!

Our current batch of single day tickets for the Saturday have almost sold out although we do have plenty of Sunday and Full Weekend passes available, along with Non-Attendee packages if you are unable to join us. To purchase your non-attendee package or tickets, visit the Auto Asembly website NOW! Non-attendee packages are 60 for UK attendees, full weekend tickets are 45 for adults and 35 for children/students/senior citizens with under 5s being FREE. Family tickets (2 adults and 2 children) are just 145 saving 15! Limited numbers of single day passes are also available starting from 18. Don't miss out on your chance to be a part of what is going to be a great weekend celebrating 25 years of the Transformers!!

Keep looking out for more updates on the convention very soon including an updated guest list and a list of items in our charity auction...

Chance to win free entry to Auto Assembly 2010. (http://www.transformertoys.co.uk/content.php?/transformers-news/story/8739/Free+Entry+for+Auto+Assembly+2010.html)

Hi everyone,

If you're planning on pre-booking for Auto Assembly 2009, you now have the chance to win a FREE pass to Auto Assembly 2010 with our great "Milestones" competition...

The first of these is what I am calling our "Milestone Draw". Over the last few years, we have set various attendance records for Auto Assembly. As this is the 20th Anniversary of Infinite Frontiers, the organisation behind Auto Assembly, we wanted to look at some of the really big milestones for the convention and celebrate what we have achieved over the years and we want to acknowledge these "milestones" by rewarding those attendees who help us reach those figures again. Quite simply, when a person registers and their ticket number matches each of these key numbers then they will receive a FREE ticket to Auto Assembly 2010!!

We have decided to set these target figures at 320 (Auto Assembly 2004's attendance figure which was our first weekend convention), 400 (Auto Assembly 2006), 409 (when we first broke the European record in 2005), 423 (which is the current European record that we set last year), and 500 which is the "glass ceiling" that every UK convention has been aiming for for years!! The 320 figure was reached a short while ago and the winner is Paul Jones who will receive a free ticket for Auto Assembly 2010 and we are VERY close to reaching the next milestone so anyone who books within the next few days could be ticket number 400 or 409!

Don't worry if you have already pre-registered though as there is still a chance for you to get a ticket for Auto Assembly 2010 as we will once again be running our Pre-Registrant Prize Draw. Every pre-registrant will be entered into a prize draw to win a family ticket to Auto Assembly 2010 and possibly some other prizes as well!

The final one is another biggie and is where we are literally going to be giving away FREE tickets to the convention this year!! This is something brand new we are doing for Auto Assembly 2009 to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of Transformers and to thank everyone for their support over the years. This is something that we secretly started back in June where we did a random draw each time someone registered for the convention. As we receive each booking, we are doing a random draw with a 100-sided die and if we roll a 100 then that person gets the price of their ticket refunded in FULL! This will only apply to pre-registrants who have booked from 1st June 2009 onwards and this is running in parallel with the other competitions so it's possible that someone could get their ticket for this year free AND a ticket for Auto Assembly 2010!

Script Reading Auditions Open. (http://www.transformertoys.co.uk/content.php?/transformers-news/story/8741/Auto+Assembly+2009+Script+Reading+Auditions+Open!.html)

From simes of TF @ the Moon.

As you know, as part of the Saturday evening entertainment at Auto Assembly 2009 there will be a script reading featuring Gregg Berger, Ian James Corlett, comic artist Simon Williams and - subject to his appearance at the convention - Neil Kaplan in a brand new script being written exclusively for Auto Assembly by Simon Furman (who is writing All Hail Megatron issue 13 which is having a convention exclusive variant cover from Nick Roche and Liam Shalloo). However, the script has more than those few characters now it's time to give YOU the chance to appear on stage with these Transformers voice actors...!

Starting now, we are casting for four roles in this short play set in the Beast Wars era and to have a chance of playing one of these characters, all you need to do is decide which part(s) you want to audition for and just send us an MP3 of you doing that voice and include your ticket number with your email! We'll listen to all of the entries and select a winner and runner up to act as an understudy incase the winner isn't available on the evening!

There are just three basic rules for this competition:- 1. All entrants must be 16 or over. 2. Entrants must be FULL WEEKEND attendees and available for the Saturday evening programme. 3. You must pre-register for the convention and auditions must be received by no later than 31st July 2009. Apart from that, the auditions are open to everyone, INCLUDING our guests! Naturally, Auto Assembly Committee members and their families are not eligible to enter.

We have open audtions for the following Beast Wars characters:- Megatron, Razorbeast, Dinobot and Waspinator so get your files to us as soon as possible! You can create dialogue yourself, perform existing lines from the TV show (or the comic in the case of Razorbeast) or request a short extract from the actual script and we will send a small piece for you to record but you need to hurry!

Script reading... no fem parts available. I think I do a pretty reasonable Rattrap, but my Waspinator is limited to the 'hazz planzz' line only. Oh, well - Scraplet1 is interested and we shall see...

Anyone here thinking of having a go?

Some news from organiser Simon Plumbe.

Auto Assembly 2009 Ten Day Update - Prize Draws And More!

Auto Assembly 2009 is just TEN DAYS away and while the convention is within reach, there are still more developments happening all the time...

* Bookings Update *

Bookings are at an all-time high with a staggering 461 fans already pre-registered for what is now Europe's biggest ever Transformers convention. We are now certainly going to be the first ever European Transformers convention to reach the "magical 500" attendance figure, and who knows, could we possibly make it to 600 from pre-registrations and on-the-door places?

This is where we DESPERATELY NEED YOUR HELP!! If you have already booked, please encourage your friends who haven't done so yet so we can reach this convention milestone! If you have a youtube account, why not mention Auto Assembly in one of your pupcoming videos, or post on your Twitter, Facebook, or Myspace accounts if you have them or post about Auto Assembly on any Transformers forums that you are a member of. The more people who attend the convention the better!

We are already looking into plans right now for Auto Assembly 2010 (and we have made provisional approaches to several voice actors and other guests) and one thing that we will offer is a reduced rate registration for Auto Assembly 2009 attendees so there's another reason to book up!

Despite Auto Assembly 2009 being so close, there IS time for you to be able to pre-register! If you live in the UK, we can still process bookings for at least the next 5-6 days and get them out in plenty of time before the convention. If you live outside of the UK (or are planning on booking for the weekend), you can opt to have you packs ready for you for collection when you arrive and pick them up on the Friday so there's no reason not to miss out! Our superb non-attendee packages are also available so check the website for the latest revised deadlines.

* Activision Prize Draw *

As you know, we are running two sponsored prize draws for pre-registrants this year... 40 people chosen at random will receive a pack of the new Revenge Of The Fallen 3D Top Trumps cards and 50 people will win a copy of Issue 2.1 of Titan's Transformers comic and the winners will find a redemption voucher in their convention packs that you collect when you arrive. Well, we now have the third prize draw confirmed...

Activision have very kindly donated TEN copies of their Revenge Of The Fallen game for the Playstation 3 to us to give away. All you need to do to stand a chance of winning is to pre-register for the convention as a WEEKEND or NON-ATTENDEE package. Prior to the convention, we will select TEN attendees at random who qualify, and you will find a winning ticket in your packs. Take it along to the Registration Desk over the weekend and exchange it for your game, worth 40!

* Saturday Night Rock Concert *

Next Of Kin, who are responsible for Auto Assembly 2009's official theme song, are already lined up to perform a one-hour show of Transformers music as part of the Saturday night programme of activities but now, they are going to be performing TWO shows... Instead of the disco, Next Of Kin will be taking a short rest break after their Transformers show, and will return to the stage for a three hour regular concert performing some of their own material and a mix of familar rock and pop songs throughout the night!!

* Party Pass *

We know that many of you who are attending just for the Saturday are unable to join us for the full weekend because of work, personal or travel commitments. However, after looking at the capacity of the hall, we are now in a position to have a VERY LIMITED number of additional places available in the hall for the evening programme and we will make these available to Saturday attendees as an add-on to your normal one-day pass. These Party Passes will be on sale during the day at the convention on a first come, first served basis for 10 each and they will gain you admission to the Evening Programme of entertainment including the script reading, both shows from Next Of Kin, and Ray Curran's performance of the youtube hit, "Unknown Transforming Robot".

* Charity Auction *

Our charity auction is now looking pretty astonishing with about 25-30 items confirmed and are either with us or in transit including a vast amount of original comic artwork, autographed toys and photos and much more besides. Highlights include a signed photo of Peter Cullen (G1 Optimus Prime), an original page of art from IDW's live action movie adaptation by Alex Milne, the Ato Assembly 2009 postcard artwork by Andrew Wildman, a Beast Wars Transmetal Optimus Primal toy signed by Garry Chalk and much more besides. For a full list, keep checking the website. Remember, the auction is open to attendees (it takes place on Saturday afternoon) and non-attendees by way of proxy bidding.
