Looks like we're in for more lovely character designs. Wasn't keen on the first game, got bored of it after just a couple of missions, but I did love those designs.

I have to wonder how Grimlock gets a dinosaur mode on Cybertron?

Dunno how accurate this is. Could be real, could be wishful thinking speculation taken as real.

If even half of that it actually in the game, it'll be enjoyable for me to play.
I hope the reason for the Dinobots having their alt. modes is true. It would be a nice change from how they get them in the other stories.

Gamestop (http://www.gamestop.com/ps3/games/transformers-fall-of-cybertron/97737) has listed the Combaticons also.

I like WFC's reveal better when out of the blue a teaser pops up in the interwebs instead of this... 'We're going to have a sequel and it's going to have Grimlock and the Combaticons and it's going to be awesome'.

Still, GAMEEE

Weird that we're getting THIS much buzz right now for a game that isn't out for over a year... Maybe the DEC 2012 thing was a mistake?

That looks a lot like the Generations toy they came out with. I'm okay with Jazz, I was honestly surprised he wasn't in the first one (even though Warpath! was a pleasant surprise).

One article isn't a ton of buzz, though. Nor it is unusual for gaming websites to have details on popular items this early.

Jazz was in the first one, albeit only if you pre-ordered the thing, and/or paid an few extra bucks for the DLC pack.

He cameos in the Kaon prison as well.

From the newest Game Informer issue:

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-video-game-discussion/475037-just-got-game-informer-fall-cybertron-article.html#post6736033

* Shockwave studies life forms on Earth and created the Dinobots.

Also:

*Recaps their attempts with War for Cybertron, discusses how they want to improve on its weaknesses, turned them "into the strengths of the new game." This includes completely rewritten AI from the ground up and putting in transformation in every aspect of the game they could.
*Talks about how it's a somewhat "grimmer place than the last game".
*Discusses new gameplay styles, a broader array of characters, improved variety amongst them.
*"Prime can call down devastating artillery strikes on the field of battle."
*A picture of Cliffjumper shows him with a very a near-identical head to his Prime design.
* Each character has unique abilities. Jazz has a kind of zip line. Cliffjumper has invisibility.
* Shockwave studies life forms on Earth and created the Dinobots.
* Most enemies in FoC are unique to their faction as opposed to re-skins.
* Players have a weapons system where they can purchase upgrades through Teletraan Terminals which they encounter throughout the game.
* Players can carry a Primaryand Secondary weapon, one piece of defensive and offensive equipment, and a set of grenades.
* Cliffjumper and his friend Jazz are on a mission to find the missing Grimlock, a mighty Autobot warrior.
* Talks about Vortex and Bruticus (More on that later)
* Massive focus on multiplayer customization: Four distinct character types can each have six distinct body parts, from head to feet, altered between half a dozen options. Each body part affects features like speed, shileding, vehicle armor, and ability regeneration. You can unlock new parts. Pick colors. Pick a voice. Save up to 3 characters in each of the four classes.
* The camera is placed closer to the character model and a press of a button makes your character change which side of the screen he's on.

Impressed by the trailer.

Then again, I'm an easy guy to impress.

Seems like this game, at least, tries to bridge the gap between War for Cybertron and the Prime cartoon series. It won't be elegant, but ten to one says that Bumblebee being half-dead and Jazz blowing up Soundwave's chest would be the source of them being mute in the cartoon.

Optimus Prime's face looks a bit too square at times, no?

Still, both Grimlock and Bruticus are very impressive, although I do hope guys like Omega Supreme don't just disappear without a trace.

I hope we get a third game on earth - I reckon the ability to transform to remain undetected by Humans would be a nice twist and rampaging robots around a grand theft auto city would be great fun!

As for this one, I'm not 100% sold on it yet. Mainly because I havent been blown away by the first one. It's fine, but if the Transformers license wasnt attached I'm not sure I would push through it.

I do think Transformers is really crying out for a good solid GTA sandbox-style game, yeh. So much of the format could be lifted beneficially - optional missions, two modes are an obvious analogue for on foot/in vehicle, Earth authorities in place of the police...

I'd love to see an open-world Transformers game one day, but if War for Cybertron is anything to go by High Moon probably aren't the people to do it. WFC was almost painfully linear, and about as far as you can get from a sandbox game like GTA. I don't think High Moon has much experience with anything but bog-standard shooters, yet, and if someone's going to do this I'd rather it be a developer with more experience in the genre.

Perhaps a team effort could be considered; Rockstar makes decent sandbox/open-world games like GTA, as you mentioned, and Ubisoft have done an awesome job with the Assassin's Creed series, but insofar as I'm concerned, I wouldn't trust any other developer with the character aspect of a Transformers game, next to High Moon.

HM have proven themselves on the money thus far, their ambition is vested solidly with the interests of the fans - they went out of their own way to convince Hasbro to let them put the Dinobots in FOC, they really didn't have to do that - and they know what they're doing with the action and characterisation aspects; but as you also pointed out, they don't yet have much experience in other styles of gameplay.

If High Moon were to be involved in the production of an open-world TF title, perhaps they could do what they do best, while another studio be brought on-board to handle the environment aspects of the sandbox/open-world play style.
