View Full Version : Optimus Prime Masterpiece?

I only followed G1 Transformers. I'd love to get something for myself in a nostalgia fuelled pre-Christmas purchase. Since I don't have a lot of space I would want to get Optimus without a trailer. Does anyone know of anywhere online that I can order the Masterpiece edition please?

By the way does it come with an assembly book like the rather peculiar ones that came with the toys originally?

As you might have guessed I'm far from an expert on these things. :)

I'm guessing you'll be wanting the MP-1 (or some variant thereof) for it's lack of trailer. Considering how many times he's been reissued, you shouldn't have much trouble finding one.

What do you mean by "assembly book"?

Sorry I mean the "instructions on transforming" book rather than "assembly". You're quite right that it's a MP-01 I'm wanting. I'm actually having a bit of trouble finding one...I've checked eBay (No Buy It Now auctions and slightly silly prices) and Amazon (not in stock).

I think you'll be better off with an MP10 with the trailer. It doesn't take that much space over MP01 and it's a more complete package.

I could sell mine, but mine's the one with the trailer.

I found one at Mandarake for approximately $120 but the listing is in Japanese so I've only a vaguest idea what condition it's in.

MP10 (both Hasbro and Takara) also commands absurd prices these days though.

MP10 still seems to be available for 100 from TRU in the UK.

Loose MP01s come up on eBay if you're patient -- I paid 50 inc. for a Hasbro one, which is about the original RRP, and then picked up some longer smoke stacks.

I assume TRU is Toys R Us? It's collection only mate ...and there's no Toys R Us in my country!

You're right about the loose MP01s and typically the ones available at the moment are a bit rubbish. Patience is a virtue.

Best I can find is this:

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Transformers-Masterpiece-Optimus-Prime-Toys-R-Us-MISB-SEALED-TRU-MP-10-EXCLUSIVE-/261272129452

I do have the funds but if TRU would only deliver (I have a forwarding address in NI) I'd save around €50.

Weird, I was told TRU ships internationally, or is that just TRU USA?

Which European country are you in? If you post a want thread on the board I'm sure somebody will pick up and ship you a figure at cost if you're up for it.

I'm in Ireland mate. That's a great idea! :)

TRU replied to an email I sent asking about stock and they said there's some due....don't know if this is accurate or garbage.

It was very roughly calculated to let people in after a few months of normal posting... no problem with you being in there, you should be able to post now (may take a short while for the setting to take effect.)

None in stock near me, I'm afraid.
