Our church is switching to a new host since our old one shut down, and they need us to contact our current domain registrar to get a transfer code. (At least I think those are the words the guy used. This is all foreign territory to me.) The problem is, I don't remember who we have our name registered through. We had signed up with one company, but I believe that our church treasurer accidentally transferred us to a different one a couple years back. Is there a way to find out, or do I need to have the treasurer dig back through the bills and figure out who we paid?

As I understand it, you just need to find a site that will do a WHOIS lookup for you. Generally that'll tell you who the registrar for a site is.

For example, looking up the Archive: http://whois.net/whois/tfarchive.com.

You should be able to look up your site the same way. Does that make sense?

Thank you! I think that's exactly what I need. Now to hunt down some contact information. We're now one step closer to a shiny new website!
