It's probably been done multiple times over the years, but its still fun to see what pops up...

I was in a shop today and saw this, which inspired the thread! Can you produce evidence of other Transformer-named films?

I hate to go in straight away with the obvious one, but Skyfall has to be the most succesful Transformer name related film.

oh, and Revenge of the Fallen.

I imagined this to be much more pleasant with images. For example;

... coz of Hound, see.

Not as good as his film about that Gobot dressing up as his mother and killing women in the shower though.

That is fantastic! Even got Chameleon in there! At first I was going to say Hooligan isn't a Transformer (guy from Mil-Wal), but you're talking about the Skyjet.

Some of those films amaze me with their names, but a moment later I realise its an ok title, like Rad or Chop Shop!

I was kinda amazed how many there were, even allowing for English having a finitie number of words. There are probably more - my knowledge from BW onwards is a bit spotty, especially for non-media toys.

Also surprised at some that weren't there - there's never been a film called Bumblebee, Brawn or Blaster

So, who is going to make it their mission to watch all of those then?

2014-06-12, 07:00 AM
I would actually love it if someone did that using this as a criteria. Letterboxd tells users how many films out of those on any list they've logged as watched; I've seen 5 out of 140 (4%). I've got something like 650 films logged as watched with another 400 on my want-to-watch list.

There's probably about 20 others at most that I'd heard of before this thread, and about ten of those I'm actually interested in seeing. There really does look like there's some absolute shite in there; considering TF fans' ability to latch onto anything like that if Megatron the film was any good at all we'd all have heard of it a long time ago.

It's a Romanian Cannes' winning film, probably a bit too highbrow (oh, now there's a film title in waiting!) for most of us.

I'm mildly surprised a 2008 film got away with that to be honest, whilst most Transformer names are presumably far too generic to easily trademark I'd have thought Hasbro/Paramount would have all the legal rights to any use of Megatron in a movie title well sewn up.

From the look of it... I think I've seen Skyfall and possibly Brainstorm (though I may be mixing it up with that one where Kevin Bacon watches you sleep).

Squinting at small print on DVD covers has left me thoroughly of the opinion that Cannes appears to be like one of those PC school sports days where everyone gets a little certificate for turning up...

Surprised by the Megatron one myself, which is why it was initially so far down the list - I just didn't think of searching for it for a while. It's possible they were slow nailing stuff down after the first one or just that there's a lot more leeway if no-one's even half trying to claim it's a related film (or just that Has/Paramount either a) didn't notice the thing or b) didn't think it was worth the hassle/bad press).

Seen: Detour, Point Blank, Inferno, Frenzy, Dogfight, Hook, Venom, Eagle Eye and Midnight Express (a few aren't logged, I think), with Freeway hopefully on the way from Amazon and Chameleon somewhere in my watch pile.
