View Full Version : Eurovision picks?

Some good songs this year and unusually my faves have made it through to the final.

And something traditionally big and ballad-y.

Similar but didn't make it through the semis.

Out of these I like Slovenia and Iceland. Slovenia's got one hell of a voice, IMO. Iceland's talented and adawwwable.

Haven't heard the rest, but I've dug this up for the listens. It's probably about time for a break from the audiobooks.

Edit: listened to some of the playlist while we cleaned the storage room out, and had loaded up the 10 finalists for listening while I performed head surgery on a plush bear when my browser decided to not play sounds on any of them, for some reason. Fricking annoying. That said, from what I've heard so far I think if I was able to properly watch the Saturday contest (webcast, eh, maybe) I'd be in for Estonia.

Can't see past Sweden, myself. The song and the animation are in a different league. I hope the UK duo do respectably. Was looking forward to the Finnish punks, but alas, 'twas not to be.

Could do very well. Not quite my cup of tea, but it's gotten a lot of interest and their list of "most watched" videos last month apparently concurred with most of the songs mentioned so far -- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fNuNfL-PHKY

It's a shame it comes down to live performance, really. Ditto that only half of the entrants get to perform on the main evening because most people aren't aware of it as more than a one night thing. Just putting the second semi on now.

If you can get her hooked, the vids have got to be better than that Thomas abomination.

I think this might be my first time watching the final live. Yay! Thanks internet!

The small one approves of Serbia, and I quite liked Lithuania.

Edit: Germany is very polished, and in a catsuit.

Russia, y u so confusing. Me likey.

I thought there were 20. I r dum, yes. But at least I r entertained.

I don't even remember which one was Sweden's song. I did like Russia though.

I really enjoyed our entry and Lithuania's.

I am so glad for live internet feeds. Though this is the sort of thing that strikes me as better to watch with people. I'M LONELY NOW.

The Twitter feed made me wish I was a... twat? Tweeter? Twit? Twitterer? I like Twat, personally. I'm sure this is probably a type of joke made about Twitter before, but it's new and entertaining to me.

The live feed is still going and I'm staring at someone's feet.

I thought Russia was way better than Sweden, personally.

Yeah, plus Russia holding a big gay Eurovision event tends to improve their human rights record temporarily.

Didn't think the UK entry was that bad this year.

Still trying to work out how Lena swung it for Germany all of a sudden one year.

I felt like I wanted to be a little on the fence about it at first, but then someone tweeted "It's not like Putin wrote it", and that kinda helped to push me over the fence.
