Default Space Mafia NPCs

These guys are what's left of Black Shadow's main crew. Shank and the Reflectorbots we've already seen, the rest will dribble in slowly over the next few months.

Profile: A trio of Reflectorbots who once served under Shockwave, Flashbulb, Shutter and Lens Flare are employed by the Space Mafia as guards. Their mental link allows them to keep watch on a building from three separate locations at once, making it difficult for intruders to slip past them; if one of the trio sights an enemy or is incapacitated, the other two know about it immediately. However, as individuals they leave much to be desired. They are so used to thinking and acting as a team that they are less than useless on their own. To their fellow Mafioso, the trio seem to share a single personality, although those that work with them closely will see the slight variations that are all that remains of their original, wholly separate personas. Flashbulb can be a showoff, going out of his way to impress those around him. Shutter lacks the bravery of the other two and usually does his best to steer them away from battle. Lens Flare, the nominal spokesman of the team, can be biting and sarcastic in the extreme.

Abilities: These three gangsters can communicate with each other instantaneously over a mental link, allowing them to discuss situations unobserved by those around them. Each one is equipped with a different sensor and recording suite. When combined in camera mode they can see the entire electromagnetic spectrum, hear anything from .25 Hz to 100,000,000 Hz, record radio, TV, subspace and other signals as weak as .000001 watts, and can 'smell' and 'taste' everything around them for a quarter of a mile. When split up, each member has some (but not all) of the above traits.

Weaknesses: If any of the three is incapacitated or taken far away from the other two, the operational capabilities of the entire unit decrease significantly. They aren't particularly formidable in combat.

Profile: A master thief who never gets caught, Jitterbug makes a handsome living stealing priceless relics, art and weapons technology for the Space Mafia. He frequently travels off-world to carry out jobs for the other Space Mafia bosses, but when on Cybertron he works exclusively for Black Shadow. He enjoys his job, but unlike low-level thieves he doesn't put himself at risk for the rush of a smash-and-grab. Each and every one of his heists is meticulously planned, with dozens of possible contingencies in place for every foreseeable point of failure. He takes the same approach in his interaction with others, always trying to get as much information as he can no matter what the situation.

Abilities: Jitterbug carries a particle beam rifle that can silently cut through all but the thickest of armour plating, tuned less for combat than for breaking into armoured rooms. Tiny gas emitters in his fingers can release fine-tuned chemical mists that will dissolve glass, most plastics, several common metals and even a few more exotic concoctions. In insect mode, he has the ability to shrink down to the size of a real grasshopper, thereby evading most motion detector and laser-based security optimized for Transformer-sized life.

Weaknesses: When Jitterbug finds himself in a situation that he hasn't planned for, he is often at a loss for what to do.

Profile: A brilliant polymath who seems to know something about everything, Torpedo is one of Black Shadow's favourite assassins. He lacks the brute force and sheer destructive potential of Blue Bacchus or the single-minded tenacity of Blaze, but more than makes up for it with a subtle, completely unpredictable approach to murder for hire. His usual approach to a new assignment is to carefully research every facet of his target's life, learning everything there is to know about them and then exploiting their most obscure and inane weaknesses. He has no respect for the simpleminded thugs whose only approach to a hired killing is to walk up to their target and shoot them in the street -- to Torpedo, assassination is an art, not a crime.

Abilities: Torpedo is a talented scientist, technician, programmer and mathematician. He has average physical attributes, but has trained them to the point of perfection.

Weaknesses: Torpedo knows so much that he can sometimes get himself in trouble by relying too much on trivia and not enough on reason.

Profile: Calm, rational, reasonable and completely uninspiring, Shank is one of the Space Mafia's top-echelon business managers. He runs the finances for Black Shadow's personal crew and leads a sub-team that oversees the gang's smuggling operations. He is respected by his fellow gangsters, but few of the Space Mafia upper echelons take his authority seriously because he isn't prone to violence. He doesn't really consider himself a criminal, just a businessmech whose work doesn't get official approval.

Abilities: Shank is an expert at applied mathematics, especially accounting and statistics. He is a shrewd business manager who can turn a profit on virtually any operation. He carries electronic countermeasure missiles to baffle security officers trying to catch his smugglers. He is armed with a silenced pistol an an energy knife for those times when he absolutely has to mete out violence on his enemies.

Weaknesses: Shank's reluctance to use violence to keep his underlings in line can make it difficult for him to control rebellious or psychopathic gangsters.

Profile: Whatever Shank lacks in the violence department, his second-in-command more than makes up for. Firewagon is an unrepentant thug who got his start as an arsonist-for-hire before moving up the underworld food chain. He got his current job as Shank's right hand mech and enforcer after fighting off half a dozen Governor-affiliated heavies who tried to hijack a shipment of Syk he had been guarding. He has no business savvy and even less aptitude for subtlety, but what he does, he does well.

Abilities: Firewagon is phenomenally strong and very durable. He is equipped with twin flamethrowers, as well as a fire hose that can spray virtually any liquid over 1000 feet. He tends to use it to flammable liquids that he can ignite with his flamethrowers, causing widespread destruction and chaos. His armour can withstand heat up to 3000 degrees Celsius, making him immune to his own attacks.

Weaknesses: Firewagon isn't very bright, and on the rare occasions when his usual tactic of direct confrontation fails he can find himself in over his head.

Profile: A low-class mercenary with a crude sense of humour, Gravity Well's behaviour falls well below the Space Mafia's already-low employment standards. He's just as likely to curse at his employers as he is to look at them, and may well shoot anyone who returns the favour. Most criminals with an attitude like that die very quickly, but Gravity Well has survived and thrived in the Space Mafia's employ. His skills as a pilot alongside his suicidal bravery and the ability to talk himself and his cargo through military checkpoints have made him a valuable asset to his employers, who appreciate loyalty and competence more than they do a pleasant personality.

Abilities: Gravity Well is extremely fast, satisfactorily durable and is a talented pilot. In vehicle mode, he can carry up to 100 tonnes of cargo. He has sophisticated sensor arrays that can detect police scanning equipment from dozens of miles away, an ion cannon that can disable enemy spacecraft and a gravity generator that can pull vehicles from hyperspace and cause severe physical harm.

Weaknesses: Gravity Well is equipped for speed and defence, not combat. His grating behaviour makes him an exceedingly unpopular figure in Cybertron's underworld.

Profile: An inexperienced mechanical genius who once made a living repairing participants in Cybertron's many underworld racing leagues, Arrowhead is only happy when he's buried up to his armpits in disassembled equipment. He was recruited by Shank as his team's personal mechanic, a job he relishes because he gets to work with innumerable bits of rare and exotic technologies. Despite his mechanical aptitude, he is a young mech who hasn't seen much of the world outside of his workshop. He spends an inordinate amount of his off-duty time with Gravity Well, listening to the abrasive smuggler's tales of adventure and doing his best to keep up during their flying lessons.

Abilities: Arrowhead is a mechanical prodigy capable of intuitively understanding how something works just by looking at it. He carries an anti-gravity gun in robot mode that allows him to precisely move items too large for him to lift. In vehicle mode, he is fast and agile (even if he can't use those traits to their maximum due to his inexperience).

Weaknesses: Arrowhead is out of his depth in the crew's more violent adventures. He's not a particularly good pilot.

Profile: If he were human, Streamline would be called an adrenaline junkie. He's a fearless daredevil who will do absolutely anything, no matter how dangerous, simply to prove that he's not afraid. He has adapted well to the dangerous life of a Space Mafia courier, delivering drugs, weapons and other illegal goods to Black Shadow's customers. He doesn't socialize much with his fellow thugs, preferring to spend his free time devising new death-defying stunts to pull off. However, when the gang is in danger his is always the first to step forward and defend his colleagues.

Abilities: Streamline is fast, durable and brave beyond all measure, traits that serve him well in his line of work. In vehicle mode, he can accelerate to 100 kph in under two seconds and has a top speed just over Mach 1. He is equipped with a camouflage generator that allows him to alter his colour scheme to better fit in with local traffic. He also carries an electropulse rifle ideal for quickly disabling attackers.

Weaknesses: Streamline's craving for excitement causes him to take extreme risks that often end in serious bodily harm.
