That's my main hope too... I won't be leaping until it's confirmed these aren't kitbashes or something...

Where would this actually fit into the marketing side of things? Something to compliment the reissues?

I love that flipchanger mold as it is, even better that it's got Mirage's colors now.

My bet is that someone at Takara looked at what Hasbro was doing with Universe and said "hey, if they can make alot of money for shotty repaints (no, I still don't like 99% of the universe line, so far I've bought 2), Then lets make our own line of repaints".

It's pretty much Takara's "Transformers Universe". Seperate from the "book Style" reissues, the same as Hasbro's Commerative series is different from Universe

Hmmm, personally I saw Universe largely as a cheap way of getting extra figures mixing both fan and casual interest on the shelves - covering demand for different types of figures without having to take a radical change in what seems to be a commercially successful ethos for the main series, whereas what Takara are doing seems to be a lot more, erm, effortful. Wow, that's so not a word... And I mean more extra effort than they usually put in - we're not talking a few anime-accurate dabs of paint here, but what look to be two brand new moulds...

No argument on that here. It deffinatly seems that Takara is going the extra mile with this new line. But in comparrison, it's not a suprise.

I'm not one of these "Takara is god, hasbro is cr@p" people. I've seen plenty of instances where Takara has made me go "WTF were you thinking" (IE Blind packaging on Smallest TFs and trying to find the bloody chase figures for the micromasters).

But look at Takara's "Book" series of reissues. Each once comes in very nice packaging, with a display stand, and a bunch of documentation. Hasbro's commerative series is a box, with a figure. Hell, they were too lazy to even change the stickers to english (Hence my Commerative series Jazz has Meister on him). Hasbro got really lazy with Universe - the Walmart exclusives are more than proof of that. But with their equivlent, Takara has made some decent strides to make this more than a cash cow, treating their fans as more than mindless zombies and giving them a little credit on what they put out.

I hate to say it, but this is what Universe SHOULD have been. I am curious though, to see if any G1 molds make it into Universe\Robotmasters (esp the later Japanese Stuff)

EDIT: Missed Z's response

I don't think these are, because Anime HQ would look pretty bad. As I said in my first post, these are listed on Anime HQ's site, so I doubt they are kitbashes. I just posted a link to Tformers.com because the AHQ site was experincing serious lag (probably all the transfans drooling over this stuff).

I'll post a link to AHQ later, to lazy to go digging for it

Wink Brave Maximus' good deed for the day

MA-01 Optimus Prime\Convoy

MA-02 BW Megatron

MA-03 Reje (Mirage)

MA-04 Wrecker Hook

RM-05 Erle Blade Very Similar to G1 Jetfire - No I don't know why there's a prefix change, but the numbering continues - possibly a translation error or something

RM-06 Air Hunter I like this mold, I like the paint job, I like the new weapon

RM-07 Bound Rogue Well, every line has to have an ugly toy......

RM-08 Wingstan

RM-09 Psycho Orb Winner of the "Coolest name for a cr@ppy mold" award

RM-11 BW Convoy\ Optimus Primal ..... Damn

RM-12 G1 Starscream

RM-13 Smokescreen

Interestinglingly enough - no RM-10 listed yet, I wonder who or what that will be?

And yes, bright as I am, I just figured out that RM in the Prefix stands for "RobotMasters" I wonder what MA is then?

Exactly. In fact one of the figures looks like a new likeness of Jetfire, which I don't believe they have the rights to the original mold.

Bound Rogue is possibly the one I'm looking forward to the most. I love Snarl, and the blue paint job makes him look insane.

So is the Starscream toy a new mold? I don't recognize it.

If it's the G1 mold, then it's had some serious retooling, almost to the point of being unrecognizable. My guess would be that it's a brand new mold for the line, just because of the major differances

Didn't someone say that some of these figures came from the Japanese Smallest Transformers collection?

I like how they retooled Primal, but BW Megs looks like Takara could hae but i a little more effort to make his RM look just a little more show accurate (i.e., having the sides of his beast mode hanging off to the sides.

With the new and improved Starscream i have to say, WHAT TOOK SO DAMNED LONG?

i haven't gotten a better look at the others yet, but that blue snarl intrigues me. i think that it would be interesting to see all the Beast-era characters with G1 names should be colored like their namesakes.
