At least some people believe megatron(g1) took his name from the book, which documents Megatron(BW)'s successes.

So BW megatron is the original, and G1 is the Rip-off.
Life is weird.

Superheroes recycle names all the time. There've been, what, three? Flashs.

Plus two Silk Spectres and Nite Owls. Are they rip-offs?

If I gave my son my grandfather's name, would that be a rip-off?

And as you're using a wrestling metaphor - it's being used as a title. Okay, there's only one Hulk Hogan (mercifully), but there's been lots of World Champions. Same deal as when a certain Predacon stole the name of the Dinobot Divebomb - it's a passing of the mantle. The name becomes titular, not unlike Hot Rod acquiring the suffix "Prime".

It's an homage, intended to honour the forebearer. Which it did, as BW Megatron met with a lot more success than the original ever did.

The key word is believe. We must all take this in context of what we are viewing. Megatron was orgianaly a toy. If someone KNEW, then BELIEF would not be needed.

I do not see how BW megatron is the original if BW was after G1, furthermore, Megatron was the P-38 handgun way before he was brought together with Convoy and so on. Based on that, how can the BW megatron be before G1 megatron?

I personaly think the makers of BW simply used the names from G1 for name recognition to attract viewers. It is what it is.

Yes, I understand the name homage. When hotrod became rodimus, he was Rodimus Prime. I think Prime would be the name to show leader, thus, the reason why there is a name before Prime.

So the BW megatron was more hardcore than the G1 megatron?

I think I have it. The best way for me to understand is using the analogy of James Bond. Would that work?

I am thinking, however, that when there is new spy for the english version of the CIA they name the new spy Jame Bond as a code name basicly. You follow? Am I on the right track?

Because the events of Beast Wars took place before Generation One, thanks to the wonders of time travel.

And to keep the trademarks.

Four. Jay Garrick, Barry Allen, Wally West, and Bart Allen.

That is, four that were featured in a monthly title. There's also John Fox and the other future speedsters.

I thought BW was after G1. I thought someone here said BW takes place after G1. I am now confused.

It works like this.

The Maximals and the Predacons are the the descendants of the Autobots and the Decepticons. Optimus Primal's ship, the Axalon, is heading out on a scientific expedition and gets in a fight with Megatron's crew. The two ships go through a warp in time and space, then crash land on a strange planet.

As time passes, it is revealed that this planet is, in fact, prehistoric Earth. Season Three features the Maximals protecting the Ark, which is chock-full of deactivated Generation One Transformers.

Hence, Beast Wars fits in after Generation One, but the events occur before the Autobots come back online in More Than Meets The Eye.

I see. One question. Why would there be a gorilla in prehistoric earth when there are dinasours? How is that supposed to work? Gorilla's were not around with dinasours. I'm like WHAT??

The ship's computer scanned a bunch of fossils for Megatron, Dinobot, and Terrorsaur.

I see. One more thought. BW was after G1, but then they were before G1 when they went through the time warp, which means BW actually took place before G1.

Spengler says it was dubbed. Being on DVD and whatnot.

The "Scan a potential alt mode, become it" thing (compared to the original cartoon where they have to be physicaly taken apart and rebuilt).
Actually, in the G1 pilot Teletraan-1 sends out his Sky Spy probe, scans various possible alt modes and then simply hits the Transformers with his magic reconfiguration beam.

If Beast Wars was so good as you all claim, then why did they not make a BW live action movie??
A lot of good stuff doesn't get turned into a movie. Doesn't mean it's not good.

Overall, this was some classic "TRUKK not MUNKY" stuff. It's like 1996 all over again.

Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.
Can buy in stores: Robot Heroes Tigatron/Inferno, Ricochet/Predaking.
