he had a transforming scottish castle in the comics. much easier to get that he was a scot. or at least that he was a fan of the highlander films.

Actually, according to their file cards Duke is a sergeant and Flint is a warrant officer, so Flint outranks Duke...although Duke seems to be the one giving the orders, regardless (in the few G.I. Joe comics I've read, anyway).

It's like the casting director for this movie is randomly picking secondary actors from my favourite TV shows (Eccleston from Heroes, Rachel Nichols from Alias, Mr. Eko from Lost*, Random Terrorist Guy from 24) for the sole purpose of goading my into going to see it.

* I expect Heavy Duty to spend a lot of time hitting people with sticks.

Wait, wait.... something important was said back on the first page.

Gillian Anderson has new Breasts? Sweet.

As for the rest, all I hope this means is that we get some cool new B.A.T.s.

Picture gallery. All character shots, so no clue on what the movie will actually look like yet.

Everybody seems to be all up in the black bodyhugging fetishwear vibe, though. Except Storm Shadow. Who apparantly is being played by the man from Del Monte.

Hm – looks like almost all the pics have been pulled. Scarlett looks okay, except all in black; ah well.

Now that this thread is active again, though, I can answer a couple of little questions/points which have come up, without bumping it with non-movie news/discussion. I got out a back issue looking for the info to respond to one thing – and found some answers to both in the same issue (#57).

Destro’s Military Armaments Research Syndicate (MARS) company is headquartered in Scotland, and began as a naval gun foundry in 1752, founded by James McCullen Destro. This Destro is “the fifteenth earl of something or other”, according to Flint. (The issue goes on to show Destro’s castle, with private troops dressed as Scots guards because Destro’s “grandfather favored the uniform”.)

And the letter column of the issue happens to address the question of the Joes’ command structure. Hawk is the Commanding Officer, with Duke as First Sergeant (Top), and Wild Bill, Cutter, and Ace rotating Acting X.O. (Executive Officer) status. Now, if “first sergeant” would rank above warrant officer in the real world, I dunno; but, GIJ is an unconventional unit, anyway – marines, SEALs, Coast Guard, etc. all mixed in together with regular army.

Don't forget the basketball players, models, wrestlers and Village People rejects. Unconventional does mean the same thing as "impossible to take seriously", yeh?

But... but... he's Sgt Slaughter! Therefore it's perfectly sensible and not in any way silly.

Scots Guards, eh? Assuming Grandad Destro was setting up his troops circa WW1, then we have the classic red jacket and bearskin: http://=http://www.army.mod.uk/scots...y_uniforms.htm

The Joes didn't snaffle all those jazzy looks on offer...

the only casting choice i dont like (and really the main costume too) is Duke....

Its funny how Storm Shadow can look so dreadful and unlike his comic book self when you compare him to Snake Eyes whos practically spot on

Thanks for the new link, Halfshell.

Does anyone somehow get an overall sensation of X-Men, umm? That MARS vault behind The Doctor Destro is reminiscent of the entrance to Cerebro...

Just stumbled upon the character pics at imbd today. I was wondering, are they planning to give Destro his 'metal face' at all, or will he just look like he does in this pic:

Right, I was stumbling about in the dark looking for something completely unrelated, and discovered a bit of casting news I was unaware of.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt (3rd Rock From The Sun, Brick) was listed as a cast member in the story about Channing whatever that I linked to earlier in the thread, but that was the only thing I'd heard on t'subject.

According to both his Wiki page and IMDB (yes, I know, both spectacularly reputable sources), he's playing...

Cobra Commander.

Interesting...

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1046173/

I love that one of the plot keywords is "sheath". I'm such a child.

Yeah, I read that the other day but just assumed it had been in this thread and I'd forgotten it... Could work I suppose, if they're going to keep the face covered it doesn't really matter if the actor isn't really old enough (assuming CC is still supposed to be the head of a major terrorist organisation anyway). haven't seen him in anything but 3rd Rock but he must be into his late twenties by now yes?

Brick's well worth watching.

You are gathering your strength for a future push towards stardom, darling. After all, with the new Doctor, Daleks are going to so be in demand...

Um. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is far too young to play CC, IMO. Unless that's an excuse for his behaviour and it's going to be patently clear that Cobra is run by Destro.
