Newly formed Hasbro Studios, based out of L.A., gets new senior execs. Hasbro Studios will be producing media content for television, Internet, and mobile. New programming will be done on Transformers (of course), and their other brands.

Don't forget Cranium in that list. Educational programming, and all that.

Well, it seems Moonbase 2 are the font of all knowledge on this new show, in their current Michael Bell interview he mentions in passing he's auditioned for the roles of Ratchet and General Fowler (sp?) in the new TF series, as well as Hawk for the new GI Joe.

The presence of a General as a regular (assuming it's not a betitled Transformer) could suggest it's going to be following the NEST/Autobot team up route, though I'll put a bet on it being "Movieish" rather than actually in continuity with the films.

Hasbro has applied for a trademark on the name "Airachnid" (seriously); possibly for the new Transformers show on the new network.

I fear the flying spiders...eight legs of winged death *Shudders*. Someone really broke the think tank on that one, got to love it.

I actually love the name Airachnid. I'm a sucker for any kind of pun or play on words.

Alex Kurtzman and Robert Orci to do CGI Transformers show on The Hub:

http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/hr/...ce2fa84a0d2c9d

Apparently the show will be called "Transformers: Prime." Jeffrey Combs will be doing the voice of Ratchet.

From jeffreycombs.com

TRANSFORMERS: PRIME
Debuting later this fall Hasbro in conjunction with Discovery Communications Inc will release a new Transformers cartoon on a new TV channel currently called Discovery Kids called Transformers: Prime.

Jeffrey will be the voice of Ratchet, a very well known character in the Transformers world. There are 26 episodes scheduled for the first season. Exact details of the show are currently unavailable but will be posted here as soon as they are made available.

Jeffrey is quite thrilled with the opportunity to be cast in the role of Ratchet. He's not able to talk too much about the show this early in the production but did have this quote: "What I can say is that it is an honor and a privilege to be a part of such a prestigious project."

Awesome, Doctor Herbert West, as Ratchet! Very interesting choice, but I can imagine it in my head and it will most likely work very well. Strange name for the show though, I wonder if it will be entirely new style of character designs, or similar to the movieverse?

Thumbs up

An excellent choice, he's versatile enough to play several characters as well (his various Trek regulars are pretty much unrecognisable as the same person).

So, Orci and Kurtzman, that design . . . is it a movieverse, Cybertron-based prequel?

It certainly seems to be the case - surely that Bumblebee is much too close to be something completely unrelated? Of course, it could be an early design or even just a placeholder, who knows. But it would fit in with movie-inspired designs taking over as the main thrust of the Transformers: Subtitleless line seen in the Toy Fair pics. Whether it'll actually tie into the films themselves or just hit a lot of the same visual cues is another matter.

All brace for the Animated fan backlash... It'll be bloody hilarious.

EDIT: Heh, the bushdodgers at Big Board are already claiming they won't be buying anything based on an arm and a head. Transformers fandom, eh? What a bunch of twats.

The smart money would be on it being extremely Movieish but not strictly in continuity with the films. Lets them use the visual style and the basic Autobot/NEST set up (possibly with NEST being less military?) that'll draw in kids who like the films but without having to worry about tying things in to closely with the third film which will have a script that's almost certainly going to be in flux right up till they finish the ADR.

I'd also bet that's a placeholder Bumblebee, I'd assume he'll be at least a little more different from the film version in order to get a new toy out of him.
