Kinda raises the question why metallic versions are being made as exclusives, when they'd likely sell more if the figures were more widely available like that in the first place...

I guess because
1) metallic deco is more expensive, hence they have to sell it at a larger price than regular mass retail toys
2) they can sell the "simple" version first, with high demand because it's a movie toy period; and then offer the metallic redeco and have completists chase after it.

Releasing the non-metallic version first is therefore neither cost-efficient nor does it sell more units.

It's not cost-efficient if sales aren't maximised during the first period because some people don't like the first releases; casual buyers don't follow exclusives.

Then again, Hasbro couldn't keep up with demand initially, so regardless of the deco the waves would have cleared.

If we go by this logic, we will never see anything like Transmetals I/II again, without a price hike.

Beast Wars ending years ago could also be an economic stumbling block...

I was talking about vacuum-metallic plastic. Beast Wars would probably never come back (damn it.)

Hey, wasn't 4500X the copter's id number?

Call me crazy, but in this case I actually prefer the standard release.

The pale 'metal' parts look rather out of place there. If the original release had the number on it, and grey hands (and a better painted Scorpy...), then it would be just grand. Except for the mold issues...

New sale thread added with a range of Transformers including Masterpiece, Botcon, CHUG, RID, Movies etc.

Looking for MP-11T Thundercracker and MP-9 Rodimus v2 (Takara version with as few QC issues as possible).

Check out my new sale thread now!

Also items on eBay.
