Did anyone actually expect this to happen?

Yeah to be honest. It's a bit of a cult classic, retro bands get a fair bit of love amongst the music-games demographic, etc.

Really? Cult Classic? Hell the only reason I ever heard the song was because im a TF fan (hence my screen name)

Most people seem to know if from Boogie Nights.

It didn't chart, wasn't a hit. Stan Bush was no Dokken or Whitesnake. Don't get me wrong, I think Stan is an awesome guy and a good guy, but his impact on 80's power pop (soft metal?) was quite small. A couple of very minor hits on movie soundtracks and thats it. Hell, Kenny G's records graced more metal-heads turn tables than Stan Bush and Barrage.
Come on and wind me up.

Bush himself isn't even identifiable to most of the people who remember The Touch -- but the song itself seems, in my own limited experience, to be remembered by a lot of people in my generation whether TF fans or not. And they're the people queuing up cheese on video games that target them as buyers these days.

its up there on the cheez-o-meter with 'every track from an 80's tom cruise movie*' and 'everything by starship*', though yes, i'd imagine fewer people could name the artist specifically. its the ultimate in hair-metal arena pop-rock, so much so that the download should come in leopard-print leggngs.

*oh god, i love the 80's

Well, considering Kotaku first reported that Stan Bush wanted it in Guitar Hero, then a Kotaku editor unleashed the force of the Kotaku readership, I'm not surprised that Kotaku got it released.

No, seriously, you don't want them ****ing with you. Look at poor Denis Dyack.

What on Earth makes you think he owns that one?
