The halfsies combiner robot thing is pretty cool, but what exactly are the vehicles supposed to be? Wingless planes that combine into a stack of two wingless planes? Seeing them in person might change things, but I'm just not feeling it on this one/two.

PS: Did we see prototype or early shots of these at all, or is the finished product pretty much the first view we've had?

The legs looks like there are wings that can be deployed. Hasbro's stock photographer just failed to do so.

Turns out he combines to form Safeguard...

Oh! And consider this one ordered.

EDIT: AND He's also in the Elite Guard...

Symmetrical Docking! Awesome!
No longer looking for RID Dreadwind, but I still need Smokejumper. I'm also in need of Mammoth Nemesis Prime's tail piece, as my figure lacks it. Send me a PM.

That would make a HUGE difference on coolness. If they actually look like something in vehicle mode, these are pretty sweet.

Initial reaction: :wtf:

Well, they look like they could be interesting and really unique, or utter FAIL. (or both, I suppose)

I'll definitely want to see more pics before making any further judgements.

Regardless of the success of the figure, I look forward to seeing how they'll play into the cartoon.

oddly, this will actually depend on how cool the actual characters are in the show as to how cool i will ultimately find the figures. i'm not completely impressed with the alt modes, but liking the unusual 'FireStorm' combo (and i would actually make a "Squee!" noise if that was what the combined mode was called).

but again, it depends on the coolness of the characters. if they actually appear.

BTW, is this the first 'combiner' we've heard about for animated?

Wow. That's sorta disappointing. With all of the hub-bub I've heard about these bots, I feel rather underwhelmed now that I've seen them. Still want to see pics of them in more detail to get a better feel, but I'm just not feeling them right now.

The combined mode is called "Safeguard". Says that on the package.

Not the best looking figures in the line. Something odd about them. They seem like they're from a different toy line.

this toy looks so lame....

its like.. a phailed attempt at combiner autobot clones...
mixed with the disgust of gaogaigar color-schemes..
the vehicle mode / combined vehicle mode is nice looking (almost like a NORMEL transformer)
but the robots / combined robots, yuck...
wasted two good names on this toy set also .. shame shame...
call it Puke and Counter Puke... cuz thats what it looks like...

The worst part is the legs. Has anyone else noticed that the legs are not joined to the hip/waist, but rather joined to the armor instead?

I am thinking they are mistransformed. I see seams where the hands should be. The photographer who transformed this should be shot with horse radish mustard to the face. Then the combined form.. I still think those legs that become arms are mistransformed.. We'll just have to see the "professional" fans transform the toy correctly. I am reminded again of the new Universe Cheetor where the arms are on the waist! *gets his Horseradish Gun*

the inside of the combined mode's blue arm has such a rough edge on the bbts pic, that i gt the feeling it's airbrushed

Hmmm . . . when I heard Jetfire I was kinda hoping for a more charicatured look of his G1 self. Kinda like they did with 2-pack Prime, Grimlock and a few other figures in this line. Those ones tend to be the ones I like the most.

Looks all right, but I'm not too impressed. I get a very "Power Rangers" vibe from the robot modes. Doing a sloppy job at transforming the figure doesn't help with the jet and combined modes either.

At a time when I'm thinking of cutting down on collecting and maybe getting rid of a few I just can't justify getting this. Heck. Magnus looks great, and I'm refraining from buying him.

These looking freakin' awful and even if they are slightly mistransformed I can't see them being much better correctly transformed. Pass, thanx.

I know the feeling. I'm rummaging through boxes to find stuff to sell cause I have way too much. What with the Classics, Movie and Animated the last few years have been good to us, but not my wallet.

I'm still gonna get Magnus when he's out thought cause he does look great, as you said.
