In this month's issue of Newtype Magazine, Simon Furman confirms that a sequel to the first "War Within" mini-series is in the works.

Yeah, me too. But I gotta wonder how Furman will be able to do a story, considering that the first series seemed so much like a one shot deal.

Perhaps they'll show us Megatrons rise to power and his back story
that would be very cool

since it features the events leading up to more than meets the eye i see no problem. I liked TWW and hopefully this one will be better.

But it doesn't follow the G1 cannon set until now (at least from the cartoon)
Optimus was Orion Pax, a dock worker not a data entry clerk
Grimlock was created on earth
some other things

I am glad to hear that Dreamwave is making another series based off of War Within. I enjoy reading the DW storyline to Transformers, it makes it interesting to compare it with the other ones.

lol
on a more serious note it could chart the full scale escalation of the Cybertronian wars to the point where Cybertron is shaken loose from its orbit up till when the Ark mission began. that could be cool

I think throwing some Quintessons into the mix might be a cool idea. I just hope the whole thing isn't so focused on Optimus Prime, as I thought that was the only downside to the War Within. Hopefully they'll get Figuoroa back for the art. And this time lets see WW Devastator!

LOL, I didn't mind the Optimus Focus, but then, I liked the character.
I'm not sure what the story will be on, as it was the personal struggle of Optimus to accept the mantle of leadership.
