Two firms??
Two firms??
When Transformers first started production in 1983, I belive there was another firm making the toys besides Taraka. Can anyone tell me who this other firm was, and which toys they made? I belive this other firm made Shockwave and Jetfire, but i am not sure.
thanks

Bandai made the Gobots...
I know they made Jetfire, and it was because they bought the rights from a company called Matashori...or something like that, and Takara had a contract that Bandai was obligated to fulfill ... but as far as Soundwave I don't know.
The gobots had a cartoon, and toyline just like the TF line did, and at the time were kind of popular, you would not know now, because the Gobots nowadays are not as in demand.

I always thought microman was a spin-off toy line of Diaclones, which was made by takara. Someone please tell me if that's a misconception.

I thought Diaclones were a spin off of Microman, if not a completely different toyline? The early cassettes were definately Microman. Whirl and Roadbuster were made from molds from some other company, the deluxe insecticons were from Beatrix... Screrw it, this site can explain better than me, even if some of the pics don't work http://www.fortunecity.com/tattooine/pr ... re-tf.html

Diaclone and New Microman (a subdivision of the Microchange line) were both manufactured by Takara.
Megatron, Reflector, Soundwave and the Minicars (amongst others) were part of the Microman line.
Optimus, the Autobot cars, Decepticon Jets and Dinobots (plus) were part of Diaclone (also known as Diakron)
Jetfire was made from a mould licensed from Bandai.
Shockwave, Sky Lynx and Omega Supreme were made by a company called Toy Box.
Roadbuster, Whirl and the Deluxe Insecticons were made by another company as well (cannae remember the name, though the DI moulds were once owned by Bandai).
