The Fabulous Freebirds!

Post by Halfshell »

Question:

Michael Hayes, Jimmy Garvin... who was the third?

and, whilst I'm here... Arn Anderson, Barry Windham, Sic Vicious... who were the other members of the Horsmen (over the various incarnations)? Was Zbysko part before teaming up with Arn? Was Ole one of them? Flair never actually counted, did he?

Cheers!

Off-topic, Brend... but check your personal mail in about five minutes (give it a chance to send), will you? I just thought of something...

Nice custom rank and quote Brendo.

I'm taking Horsmen as The 4 Horsemen. I remember Steve "Mongo" McMicheals, Dean Malenko, Chris Benoit, and Ric Flair.

Yeah McMicheals was a footballer. If I remember right, as part of an angle, Jeff Jarret was supposed to become a member but turned on them.

I believe it was Badstreet (asssuming you're referring to the late '80s early '90s NWA/WCW version of the 'Birds. I have 'em on tape...somewhere. If I'm not mistaken, Badstreet was played by one of the Armstrong brothers...the one that played the lame-o "BuzzKill" gimmick of 1999/2000 WCW, if I'm not wrong. Image

Later members of the 4 Horsemen were Steve "Mongo" McMichael (Chicago Bears' own Image ) , Chris Benoit, and believe it or not, Dean Malenko.

Brend, your members are wrong, the Fablulous Freebirds consisted of:

Michael P.S. Hayes
Buddy Roberts
And the late Terry Gordy who died recently on 16/7.

Ole was one of them, Flair counts, Curt Hennig was also one.

*Edit: Yes Zbysko was one as well
Also there was no member named Badstreet, they were "FROM" Badstreet U.S.A.

Whoops I forgot to mention ALL of the Horsemen

Original members were:
Ric Flair
Arn Anderson
Ole Anderson
Tully Blanchard

then in order, later came:
Lex Luger
Barry Windham
Sting
Sid Vicious
Paul Roma
Brian Pillman
J-E-F-F J-A-R-R-E-T-T That's Double J Jeff Jarrett
Curt Hennig

Then there were the "current" ones in:
Steve "Mongo" Mcmichael
Chris Benoit
Dean Malenko

*EDIT made a mistake I don't think Zbysko was one.

the ones who aggrivate you most / and happen to be ever close / seem to be the ones lurching / for that same thing that you were searching / the ones that make you feel ill / and you think that nature should have killed / those you curse when youre alone / seem to be the ones so close to home

Didn't they chuck Zbysko out after Superbrawl one year? Broke his arm?

But then, he was still teaming with Arn at the point when they busted Windham's wrist... okay, I'm confused...

I wasn't speaking of the Horsemen about Badstreet. Badstreet, WAS INDEED a member of the WCW Faby Frees...he wore an all black outfit with a mask and either flames or lightning bolts on it. This can be proven. I DO have him on tape, SOMEWHERE, but my wrestling tape library is pretty big, and a lot of 'here and there' on different tapes... may take me a while to find it...

Butch Reed was either in or an unofficial member of the Horsemen once apparently...

Brendocon, here's a little clip of the Freebirds from my wrestling tape collection, WITH Badstreet teaming with them. It's in quicktime format. Is Badstreet the third member that your remember?

I'm not up to speed on the AWA to NWA days of the Freebirds, but I believe he did replace Gordy.

Nah it was Hayes, because when Gordy died, the observer newsletter listed the observer awards he had won, and all the tag ones were with Roberts, and not Hayes

Haha! Sorted!

Original lineup was Hayes and Gordy. Then joined by Buddy Roberts.

Roberts then retired, and was eventually replaced by Jimmy "Jam" Garvin.

Gordy then drifted out of the scene, and ended up teaming with Steve Williams.
