Worst Comic Story

Post by Cliffjumper »

Okay folks, which of the Transformers series' paper-based stories got on your spinal chord the most? For me it has to be:-

Rock 'n' Roll Out
The main plot comes staggeringly close to making the cartoon seem realistic, but did at least tell us where the second bunch of Bot cars came from...

Prime's Rib

Transformers gets a dose of PC, and in an amazingly mishandled, false way. Proof even Furman could write absolute crap.

Spacehikers

Kids. American Kids. American Comic Book Kids. American Comic Book Kids In Spacesuits Flying Round Space. Nuff Said.

Club Con

"What's that? Those giant Evil robots who keep trying to wipe us out have set up a holiday resort? Wow, that must be cool!"

Pretender to the Throne

Bob: I must carefully introduce these new characters, weaving them into the plot.
Hasbro Exec: Forget it, pencil-boy! Show 'em all in two pages or we make you stay on this book forever!

I've left out Carwash of Doom and The Intergalactic Wrestling Championship just coz of the sheer verve of it - anyone whose got the guts to seriously try a story like that deserves respect...

"Afterdeath!" That is the story I hate the most. They could have at least had him go out with some SENSIBLE sacrifice...

C'mon guys, prime's rib may not be anything special, but it is kinda amusing. I think its the sort of thing a robot with no real concept of gender would do in an attempt at furthering political relations, and the reaction about arcee from the feminists is exactly what I heard people say about her when the movie came out. So ner Image.

I'd go with Afterdeath, on the basis that they claimed prime's entire personality could be contained on a 5 an a qurter inch floppy. And that Prime's death was totally stupid (still, at least its memorable I suppose).

'Prime's Rib' does not count simply due to Jazz's observations on the differences between men and women - "something to do with the upper chassis design..."

Great.

Those are all bad, but I think we need to mention parts 2 and 3 of the Matrix Quest, namely "Kings of the Wild Frontier" and "Deadly Obsession". They were both awful, and in many ways kind of let down the Matrix Quest for me, even though I liked parts 1, 4 and 5....

Prime's Rib should be struck off the list solely for making some attempt to explain where the chelsea Arcee came from.

And as I heartily approve of the Intergalactic Roadhandler Throwing Championships (just 'cause of Stormy), I cast my vote for Club Con.

They are Autobots. They are disguised as cassettes. You wish to hide them from the Decepticons. You transform into a cassette player.

What do you do?

My vote goes to "Space Hikers". It has no redeeming value whatsoever). "Prime's Rib", on the other hand, is probably my all-time favourite story. Upper chassis design... *snicker*... Image

Its funny how so many pep's missed the point with Primes rib.
It wasnt political correctness but a satire of the dumb extream's of women rights groups have pushed demands for 'equal rights'.A parody of the PC sweep over the 80's. It was very humourous IMHO.

Target: 2006

Not because the story was bad, on the contrary, it was great.

It was because they had to pick on and torture Jazz. I mean, c'mon, Jazz of all people! why? why couldn't they pick on someone thoroughly useless, like Ironhide? or......... Ironhide.

Torture Jazz and you torture Jazz's fans, like me. My youth was scarred by Jazz's pain.

Oh well, at least he has his subspace pants.

Windcharger
