Wizard lists the top 50 comic book movies...

Post by Hound »

50. Batman and Robin
49. Steel
48. Red Sonja
47. Virus
46. Fantastic Four
45. Superman IV
44. Conan The Destroyer
43. Captain America
42. Tank Girl
41. Supergirl
40. The Crow 2
39. TMNT II
38. The Crow 3
37. Superman III
36. Batman Forever
35. Barb Wire
34. Judge Dredd
33. Return of Swamp Thing
32. Bulletproof Mink
31. Men In Black II
30. Spawn
29. The Punisher
28. Howard the Duck
27. TMNT III
26. Mystery Men
25. Batman Returns
24. Swamp Thing
23. Batman ('60s movie, starring Adam West)
22. Daredevil
21. Timecop
20. Conan the Barbarian
19. The Mask
18. Blade II
17. From Hell
16. American Splendor
15. The Crow
14. TMNT
13. Batman: Mask if the Phantasm
12. Men In Black
11. Akira
10. Blade
9. Batman
8. The Rocketeer
7. Ghost World
6. X-Men
5. Road To Perdition
4. Superman
3. Superman II
2. Spider-Man
1. X2

Well, Spider-man should probably be behind the first two Superman flicks but aside from that I'm ok with that list. I've seen most of the movies on there (30 of them) and that's the order I'd put them in if it were my list.

Oh and Hulk hadn't been released yet so he's not on there...

If they put Akira in there, shouldn't there be other Anime movies? Cause alot of the Anime based on Manga is considerably better than Mask of the phantasim.

I've seen all of them (that's sad I know). and I agree with the list - Mostly.

Looking at the 40-50 movies I can't help to think that are there only 50 comic book movies in the world. And if there aren't, what could possibly be worse than those.

"Monk" is what it should say. I need a keyboard with bigger keys...

Oh and there isn't only 50 comic book movies, these are just the 50 best. I'm actually surprised that "Batman and Robin" made it on the list...

If it were top 100 movies there probably were such classics as 'Justice League'. Maybe Transformers: The Movie would also be on it, cause it's missing. :( ;)

I haven't seen all of them, but have three buts:
- TMNT II was better than III, IMO
- X-Men is too high. I'd put it below Batman, Blase and Rocketeer.
- is Batman Forever really that bad? I mean, is it really worse than MiB 2, for example?

BTW, Timecop is hte one with Van Damme, right? I always thought it was entitled Time Trax or something. Strange.
-Okay, the bomb's dropped. Life goes on. No amount of sulking or worrying changes that. We've got our own lives to live. In that regard, in five minutes time, I am using the autopilot on the Midnight Runner and taking it down the pub. If I go on my own, I go on my own.
-Well. Wait up, you horrible English git. While I'm around, you don't have to go anywhere on your own.
And, one by one, the others follow.
And, one by one, they begin to smile.

I actually enjoyed Batman Forever. It's a fun little movie. I think people dislike it because it's not in keeping with the dark edge of the franchise.

But, as somebody who's not really into Batman, I enjoyed it. Batman & Robin on the other hand, couldn't even be saved by the presence of Uma.

Ye gads, burn that film. The original Spidey movies were better than that.

And when did they do a Fantastic Four movie?

I agree. Forever was watchable but B&R was pure and utter c**p.

And about the FF movie: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0109770

LMAO the Japanese Spiderman movies? unfortunaly I have to agree
I own all of them up to Forever.
Joel Sumacher (yes I spelt that wrong, too lazy to look it up) did a horrible job. Never should have hired a man who liked the 60's tv show. and it showed. Corny villians with their group of costumed henchmen. And look what they did to the character of Bane :wall:

Personally though, I love the Crow as a comic movie, almost camera angle for panel from the comics

judge dredd was that way too.

Yeah, exactly. Forever was too flashy, colourful for a Batman movie, but it was still good to watch. Unlike MiB2, which maybe had four or five good lines and overall it was so bad it's a miracle I didn't fall asleep during it.

MoTU was a toyline with a promotional comic. All the others (I believe) started life as a comic.

But now that I give it more thought... where's the Flash? Surely that was no worse than a lot of those...

Good to see X2 at the top of that list. I'd definately agree that it's the best comic book movie I've seen.

Good to see Ghost World, Batman and The Crow up there too.

And I agree with Brend, Batman: Forever was a lot better than it is ranked. Val Kilmer as Bruce Wayne is class.

Flash was a Made for TV movie wasn't it? No theatrical release.

I agree that Val Kilmer as Batman was great, but he sucked as Bruce wayne. Didn't get the right feeling I think.

Spider-Man was better than X-2. Fantastic Four was terrible, but also terribly entertaining. I'll give a more detailed opinion when I'm not in work sometime

Well, according to Silly Cow's link, Fantastic Four was the same.

Nope fantastic four was originally supposed to be a theatrical release, but with the flop of Captian America (yes it was seen in 12 select cities as a test market, and well the movie sucked).

Cap went strait to video while the FF movie (which from what I hear was actually better, though not much) went strait to the vault, never to see the light of day, with the exceptions of the clips at conventions.

Flash was a TV show, but had a MFTV movie to start it off. I think wizard went with only theatrical releases (or attempted).

Blade II was better than Blade, and should be considerably higher. I'd put it in the top 3... Maybe even top.

Barb Wire above Batman Forever? Barb Wire even in the list at all? That's just silly.

And bootleg VHS tapes as well.

FF the movie it's an ok film as long as you park you brain and don't take it very seriousally (although Dr. Doom's demise is pretty stupid.)

Personally I think Superman 1 should have been number three and Superman 2 should should have been number one.
