What are YOU up at this time of night???

Post by Addl »

Hi guys

I really thought to be the only one here at 5 minutes to 4AM...

Well.

As I am here, can anyone tell me how to fix a Netscape layer swap image problem?

Netscape swaps images from layers beneath the one you are viewing if you you are "mouseover" on a link.

Anybody ever have that problem?

So, I go on a link (for example) adn somewhere Netscape swaps an image and deforms it to fit the previous picture space....

know what I mean?

HELP!

What did you think I do at 4 in the morning... working of course and totally sober as you can see by my spelling :p

Edit: don't even think of giving me that myth of time difference between continents... BA-HUMBUG!

Edit2: C'mon! 6 people looked at this topis so far and noone knows how to solve that problem?
I'll go to bed soon, so enlighten my sleep!

Well, it's 10:30 pm where I am, and I'm taking a break from reading the Iliad for my Ancient Epic class.

As for the netscape problem, the best way to solve it is to use internet explorer instead*. :p

*Normally, I wouldn't endorse a microsoft product, but IE is free. I also endorse pirated software. :p

I'll give you the number of Dr. Wendelin Wiedeking, my highest boss, and you tell him to trash Netscape and use IE as standard browser for complete Porsche AG.

.... then I'll ignore Netcrap...

:(

Edit: Okay, it's 5 now... I'll have sonme sleep and coffee later.

hopefully this thread will be the longest ever written in human history in 5 hours... and filled with real slutions!

Firstly, bear in mind that I don't use Netscape. What I do know is that Netscape 4.x had an unusably bugged DOM, and Netscape 6.x was missing various features which Mozilla quickly gained... so, always work with the most recent Netscape (preferably use Mozilla, as it has the same code engine, only more up-to-date...) 7.x seems to have more tolerance of non W3 spec code.

This is DreamWeaver specific advice, but may be pertinent:

This seems to pertain to layers and mouseovers:

...both things raised seem rather old, though. Stuff at the bottom of this* document may be more useful, but again, I've little knowledge of NS, and have never had cause to use layers.

If the problem specifically pertains to mouseover images and not any form of link, you could rethink the way you achieve image rollovers:

Let's see... It's a half past midnight on a Saturday night. Took an evening nap. Had a late dinner. Rewatched Grosse Pointe Blank on dvd. And there's no alcohol in my system whatsoever....

Talk about pitiful. If I'm still in front of this monitor at 4 am, please put me out of my misery...

As do I many a night. I know what it's like...

But this past evening I had been mostly helping to test out a brand spanking new messageboard/site layout on one of the boards that I help moderate at.
Http://www.mk5.org is the site if anyone is curious, I was going to make a seperate post about it but thought I might as well put it here as I doubt there are very many MK fans on here save for a scarce few. :)

Oh and I was watching Krull on TV. I really like that movie, wonder if it's on DVD....

How come it is so obvious that only Denyer can bring sense to a thread?
