So, apparently Starscream went back in time and grabbed BW Megatron.
Or something...

Like the cartoon-accurate BW leaders there.

Why does it need a backstory? Why not just give it a mix of fanboy-appealing bios for the new characters, and just say the old characters are, y'know, the older characters?

The backstory doesn't hurt me thinks.

Besides it almost sounds like this will be the line to tie up the BW and G1 continuties. Now this could be good or bad, I am rooting for good.

Might hook a few kids. Older collectors will want them for the figures and colour schemes, so it probably doesn't hurt.

Wonder if the DVD will be the beginning of a new series, a one-shot episode or just some interactive content?

Hmm, a new series could both be really sweet or blah. Also, think of the cool stuff they could do :)

Though wouldn't all the Beast Wars guys be quite smaller next to G1 conterparts?

No, Bob and Larry have come out constantly to say that the size issue in regards to BW to G1 was heavily exaggerated in the one shuttle scene.

It's probably more like most BW characters would be Bumblebee size at least.

And? "Bob and Larry said so" pales in comparison with a blatant depiction thereof on an actual TV show. There's also, if I'm remembering correctly, a lack of mass change during transformation in BW which would hint at them being the same size as the animals they turn into.

If Ron Freidman said that Starscream wasn't disintegrated in TF:TM...

Yeah, it's like the whole Rumble/Frenzy colour rigmarole. Being a perpetuated animation error doesn't alter the fact it's consistent throughout the cartoon. Well, quite a bit of the time... ;)

Even so, Bumblebee was not much taller than an average human.
