I was expecting a blue recolour, mostly because some police cars remain blue nowadays. It's like zoom zoom.

I prefer the regular police car colouring, maybe because I dont see that many blue police cars where i live...or any where for that matter? But I could be wrong really....how about Nightbeat? If its a revisitation of the Zoom Zoom clone thing for Meister, Nightbeat would be a great name...what with him being a detective and all that?

Ideas?

Yes, beacuse Nightbeat was such a popular character in Japan. What with having a different color scheme, name and totally different background and characterization and all.

Whilst Overdrive just set the world alight compared to Windcharger's exploits... ;)

Seriously, though, isn't the Japanese fandom highly aware of the comics? And isn't the guy who writes the tech specs / BT story one of the most frightening geeks this side of the Star Trek fandom? Nightbeat isn't necessarily so easy to rule out.

Fom police car (the original Prowl) to medical rescue car (Minerva)? No, primarly because i'm not sure they want produce a female BT, and then because Minerva (also spelled Minelba, if i remember correctly) was red, instead of blue. My opinion? Nightbeat could fit, or else a sort of clone (Zoom Zoom).

No. You seemed to have missed the point I was adding to.

Well, G1 Overdrive at least got a tech spec in Japan, unlike in the USA.

They are aware of them (the Japanese TF IMage Board brought up the "Last Autobot" as soon as first pics of Vector Prime had surfaced), though I'm not sure how much they like them.

Yes, but Ichikawa is pretty much a cartoon fanboy. The only Marvel comic reference in the BT story so far was Triple-I, as compared to the Cosmic Rust, Quantum Laboratories, High (Hybrid) Technologies Corporation, Dr. Arkeville, Chip Chase, Shawn Berger, Lord Chumley, D.R. Faireborn (Marissa's dad), the Lunar Colony... Lots of cartoon stuff, a few obscure GI. Joe references, but barely any Marvel comics stuff.

Did the Japanese mailaway Nightbeat get a techspec? Does anybody know?

The Omnibots were mailaways in Japan, weren't they? It about puts the two characters on a par (Takara-wise) as far as I'm concerned.

Didnt I make it clear? Thought I had. I meant that the Nightbeat name would work if this second colour scheme was released as a stand alone alt. Like the Zoom Zoom figure...see what I'm getting at. Not to be arsey just a long exam filled day.

Maybe the Nightbeat name wouldnt work for our Japanese chums but a suitably obscure TF reference would go down well....

Zoom-Zoom wasn't released as a standalone. He's called simply "Meister Velocity Red Mica Edition" on the packaging. "Zoom-Zoom" is just a nickname Hirofumi Ichikawa included in the system description for giggles. It's stated that this is just a "nickname", not the official name of the toy.

Funny thing-Hlj has so far treated all variations [smokescreen, smokescreen GT and meister] as identical items-therefore, if you ordered one, you weren't sure which version you were going to get. They made it clear that even if you ordered two it wasn't certain.

Enter Prowl [got both of them] and, suddenly they are treated as individual items.

Good for hlj...

What is your point ? In the US continuity Minerva is Nightbeat, yes, but ... oh, your point was about the background of the "famous" japanese Nightbeat? ... Obscure and Dangerous is the way to the Wisdom ... :)

He's saying Japan wouldn't make an exclusive Nightbeat, because Nightbeat didn't exist in Japan...

In other news, I'm fairly sure the US fanboys are very familiar with the term "Night Beat"...

Stores talk to suppliers a lot more when people mail them and point out they're not buying because of things like this.

Takara may be being more flexible given recent buying-out stuff, too.
