Universe Voyager Class wave 5: Overload and Leo Prime

Post by Nevermore »

We've had the preorders before, now we have pics.

Overload is ANOTHER repaint of Cybertron Defense Scattorshot.

Leo Prime, as expected, is a remold of Cybertron Voyager Leobreaker with a new head sculpt.
Looking for a complete Energon Sky Shadow (from Superion Maximus).
Offering: Binaltech Hound, Swindle, Ravage (Corvette), Skids.
Can buy in stores: Robot Heroes Tigatron/Inferno, Ricochet/Predaking.

that overload (as an overload) SUX
Other then that the Digi-camo is pretty nifty (stole that word from Cliffjumper) This is more Flak then overload ..Dropshot was more Bigshot then Dropshot, dropshot is blue-LOL..

Sunrunner repaint of Octane/Tankor--desert scheme
Military Radar Plane/ Radar Truck... I like it.. Hasbro....Make it happen...
Digi-Camo for all~!!!

I was kinda hoping... that Overload was gonna be the generic name of a new OVERLORD toy... G1 paint scheme on the Armada toy.. Or THIS toy would have-Maybe worked... I pray if they do, he gets a real nice toy, preferably a new mold...not just a repaint of Silverbolt or something><

Okay, strange both ways, really.

Lio Prime is actually a Lio version of Prime. He's decidedly not Lio Convoy... Watch tfwiki explode!

Overload... umm... why, again?

I'm terribly disappointed by both...

When I read the title, I was very excited.

Then, when I read the repaint details, I was still interested.

Finally, seeing photos, I think... erm, what?

:eyebrow:

Leo Prime would have been so cool had he been white, followng the same scheme as the previous Legends homage, and Overload could at the very least be red, to recall the memorable Armada incarnation. Or is he supposed to be an homage to the less memorable Micromaster transport? Frankly, he looks like neither.

What a shame.

Hmmm . . . Leo Prime is quite interesting in an "If I didn't have Nemesis Preaker I'd totally get it" way.

Oh yeah, definately two shelf-warmers here.

Hell, the Dropshot issue of the toy is already warming shelves all over. Why did they think they could do an 'inverted repaint' of that exact same toy and it would do well?

And Lio Prime.. that's just all sorts of ugly. Lio Convoy's colors would have at least looked good on it. (And he's an autobot, not a Maximal... despite Maximals and Predacons showing up now.. so? Wha?) This is just... kinda bizzare.

I will be picking up 2 leo primes, so hopefully they can join both with cybertron megatron and optimus prime. I will paint one of nemesis prime. The overload is a big let down, cuz that mold just got re-released and I was hoping for the armada over load so I could finally complete my aramada super optimus prime, but oh well. I just picked up the universe re-issue of the mold, so I will diffently pass on this overload.

Overload has MUCH better colors than Dropshot.

I'm probably some kind of a snob, but I could never bring myself to like I-stand-up-on-my-hind-legs-to-transform beast modes. Not that Overload's transformation looks all that more complicated.

How many different shades of green do they plan to repaint Scattorshot? EDIT: Just looked at my Dropshot again, it's almost more like yellow, almost. Heh.

Leo Prime's lion mode looks terrible IMO, but I really like the new head. I'm slightly tempted. Though I agree with Numbat, it would look AWESOME in white like the Legends figure was.

Maybe I should sell my Leobreaker.

No, don't sell 'breaker. Savage claw mode is Awe...oh wait, it is crap. ;)

I was really hoping overload would be a car carrier. Like G1.

Leo Prime has just made me feel like there can never be anything good in this fandom anymore, not in the form of repaints. This is horrible, awful, a true disaster. :nonono:

Another pointless Scattershot repaint? CD Scattershot is one of my favourite TFs, I really do love him, but these repaints are grim. As always the original is the best.

As for Leo, well the head sculpt is great, I really like it. Shame about the colour scheme. I skipped the Cybertron versions as I wasn't fussed by the toys but I'd be more interested in this if it made it to the UK.

Personally, I don't mind repaints. Hasbro/Takara would lose WAY too much money on making a new mold for EVERYTHING... so it's just a good business move. Plus, it gives people the opportunity to pick up a lot of different characters that they would have otherwise not had. Add to the fact that when you buy it you can name it whatever you please, and you can complete a collection in no time (which doesn't even account for kitbashing). Overall, I think it's smart to do all these repaints. And if I had to make a choice between Dropshot and Overload, I'd take Overload in a heartbeat. Dropshot's colors always scream lemony goodness to me. I prefer the camo repaint of that mold (which I think is cool) over lemon cake.

That Leo Prime mold does have potential for the repainters/kitbashers though as the Dawn of Futures past Razorclaw. Having the Prime face mask makes it ideal, so it'll be a buy for me (if I see it here in the UK).
