My flukily-won uber-rare Scale Robo recolours arrived today: -

Nice stuff, look like they've just come out of the box. Turned out Psycho was just Psycho rather than the Japanese version that fires missiles out of its' face, but it means I have the one Dalek gave me to keep in the box all nice and shiny, and one to clown around with. The recolours are still weirding me out a bit - Gobots/MR generally wasn't like Transformers and redecos are a bit of a rarity, so actually seeing up close a pair of toys in different colours to the ones you've known for pushing 25 years (I didn't know the red Beetle arrived until I got my mitts on Wedge) is pretty strange. But they be tasty! Just got to order some guns and get other my bitterness towards Bug Bite for being a reissue now...

My son is a VW fanatic. He would just love those two bugs. How expensive/rare are those? I'd love to get a set of those for X-mas to give to him. I'm running out of affordable bumblebee figures to buy for him

Bug Bite (yellow) isn't too bad - you should be able to find one in good nick for anywhere between $10-20 - price did an odd little spike just after BotCon, but seems to have calmed again now. The red one? Anyone's guess... it is a Japanese exclusive, as far as I can tell, super-rare, though the lack of comprehensive price guides for the line means it's always difficult to tell what's rare and expensive, and what just hasn't come up much. I got mine through luck - http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0162757420 - one of these ones where you wonder how someone got hold of something so obscure without having a clue what it is, and I managed to stumble across the auction within minutes of it being started.

Damn...$15..what a deal man. You lucked out on that one. I never seem to find people that don't know what they have, maybe I'm just not using the right kind of search strings or something.

And quiet right as well. That Playmates sticker is a bit of Kidderminster history.

Since rounding up the majority of the line, I search a truly pathetic amount of listings - broad tips are to search for Transformers in Vintage rather than action figures, try mispellings like "Trasformers" or "Tranformers". Involves a fair bit of just plodding through listings, though.

It was an America only figure? I've no idea, I always thought the dear departed was just a normal toyshop... It'll be faintly annoying to think it was full of rare imported stuff. Hmmm, now I think of it, someone at work a few years ago swore blind he used to have Swoop a a kid...

Actually it should be ****ing against the law town doesn't have a toy shop anymore. No wonder the kids just shoot each other nowdays.

Aye, most towns are shocking - Winchester has a little independant place with so little space everything gets about three pegs, and that bastion of fun toy-browing - Argos (where you can wait for half an hour for some spotty chav to give you a totally different Classics Deluxe to the one you were after).

WARNING: MORE GEEKY THAN YOU CAN POSSIBLY IMAGINE

Psycho did come out in the UK, in the pre-Gobot 'phase 1' Robo Machine DX series, as 'Future Machine'. The Gobots release was US only.

Okay, you can wake up now.

Future Machine is the best name ever. I'll tell the mate who gave it to me, it will amaze him.

The annoying thing about the lack of toy shops is that they're clearly a market- If I go to comic guy (Who's shop I'd call more specialist that toy shop) on a Saturday or after school it's always packed with kids stroaking Marvel Legends and Dalek Sec. Mind, that may be due to their fathers sticking the brats in there whilst they pop over the road to one of the two porn shops on the street.

I can remember seeing Sky Lynx and Trypticon in a local supermarket toy department (in Cork, Ireland) back in the 80s, also some Mexican Constructicons (the ones with lead paint, I seem to recall?) and such 'unofficial' TFs as the pre-TF 'Perceptor' (in black?).
Also, and appreciating that the toy WAS on general release here, the only G1 Skids that I ever saw was in a newsagent's with minimal toy stock!

Yeh, we must've got remaindered stock shipped over... I clearly remember picking up the Autobot tapes circa '92 in a John Menzies and until fairly recently just assumed they were Classics, but they weren't. Both Gobots (as Robo Machine) and TFs seem to have hung on longer this side of the Atlantic, so I guess it made sense.

Yay! We're good enough for America's unwanted crap!

A few years ago our Woolies got the whole of America's supply of Energon Ultra Magnus in as well.
