Unofficial Alternator-fest! Labels, knock-offs & parts!

Post by Denyer »

First up, labels to make your Alternators look a bit more like the characters they're created in homage to...

Preview of the sticker set for Battle Ravage

Sets for Tracks, Meister and Hound at ReproLabels.com

The 'knock-offs' (I'm not entirely sure why people are using that term, although the Supra transformation does look a little like Tracks. These are very different designs, though...)

Producer: Happy Well, based in Hong Kong.

And there's a guy on eBay selling shoulder cannon pairs for Smokescreen:

(And this has nothing to do with the news roundup, but the same guy had an awesome Devastator custom up a short while ago.)

Ooh, I like the sticker sets. It makes me want to buy two of Meister and a Tracks (wasn't planning on getting him, but the stickers are cool), and two Ravages.

Yeah, I know (I replied to the thread)—wouldn't usually dedicate a thread to unofficial tie-in stuff, but there seems to have been a lot recently. Most of it's probably of interest, plus easyupdateweb's bandwidth was completely caned the last time I looked...

I doubt they're licensed, incidentally.

The Meister on is just placed on to see how it looks. I modified a Smokescreen/Silverstreak set so that they would fit Hound and Meister. Will be adding a little paint to them when I get the time. I'm also gonna try and see if I can get one to fit Alt Swindle for the arm cannon (like the g1 version)

Got them about 2 months ago from the same person in Denyer's link. Managed to get hold of 4 sets. Some of the bits were damaged on delivery so I modified them to fit onto Hound and Meister. He's sending me another 2 sets to replace the damaged ones. Still waiting on them though. Been 2 weeks now.

Made 'em, I think. Moulding's not that difficult (assuming some talent to start off with—have you seen the scratch-built War Within Prime, for instance?)

Those look cool. But at the same time, they don't for some reason...

I wouldn't get them personally (I like my toys as they came, usually) but I'd probably do the "ooh" and "ahhh" thing if someone I knew did and they showed it to me.

Have started to have a go at painting the weapons. I painted one of the damaged weapons first to see how the paint I've used would turn out and to see the outcome.
I've also managed to mount a weapon on Jazz properly now instead of being just placed on and looks better than before. Have also done one for Sideswipe but not sure if it looks right yet.

Image

This shows the colours I was going to use for Jazz (sorry for them being a bit blurry)

This is still just a test as I'm not too good at painting. They usually end up being a mess but so far my shakey hands have behaved themselves.

Any comments/feedback would be grateful.

I want to try and keep to colours that would fit in with the figures and my thoughts are:-

Jazz - Black with silver detailing
Hound - Camo green with black detailing
Silverstreak - Silver with black detailing
Sideswipe - Black with either silver or white detailing
Smokescreen - Undecided on the main colour but I would like to use silver for adding the detailing.
Swindle - Black with purple (may cut the missile off so the weapon looks more like a cannon)

I tried getting a quote from Happy Well, but haven't heard anything. Strange, as I did it under my business banner.

Bumping this from the dust bin...Happy Well's site is gone. Does anyone know anything about that?

Did anyone ever get their hands on one of the Supras? I contacted Happy Well, but they never got back to me.

Not as far as I'm aware. If anyone gets any evidence, they can post it here.

I love the fact their catalogue contains so many blatant knock-offs of Hasbro products, and they're displaying alongside Hasbro...

Now, does anyone know any Happy Well stockists in the UK?
