What songs you listening to alot at the moment?

Post by Cliffjumper »

For me:-

Alec Empire - "I'm Addicted to You"
I've never really liked ATR, but this one's mainstream enough for me!

Outkast - "Sorry Miss Jackson"
Again, this isn't normally my sort of music, but this track is very difficult not to like...

A - "Nothing"
Good indy-rock

Blur - "No Distance Left to Run" & "This is a Low"
Quite simply the two best things they've ever done

The Damned - "Generals"
An underrated classic. Finally got the 7" yesterday, and it's barely been off the turntable since...

Duran Duran - "Ordinary World"
Yeh, stop laffing yer bastards! Proof that when DD stopped arsing around, they were capable of writing damn good music... The whole of the 'Wedding Album' is actually great!

Prodigy - "No Good"
Best dance song ever? I think so...

The Strokes - "Last Nite"
Okay, they may have simply ripped off six or so bands and put it all in a blender, but it's a fine blend, and this one's darned catchy.

God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You - Kiss

Kinda anthemic in a way, I like it anyhow

Sum 41 - Fat Lip and In Too Deep

Don't ask me why I like these two, I just do.

Arise - Bulldozer Project

Pounding dance track, outstanding.

The Drill - Dirt Devils

The best dance track of the moment

Something - Lasgo

The second best dance track right now

The Others - Mauro Picotto

Yup, the whole album. Mauro Picotto rules.

I found God. Then I lost him. He'll probably turn up down the back of the sofa someday.
"The early bird gets the worm, but the early worm is ****ed."
"I'm not oppressing you Stan, but you haven't got a womb. Where's the fetus going to gestate? You going to keep it in a box?"

first Wilt album (has there been another?)

The Scones - Alice Available
The Good China - This Is Your Life (both from MP3.com, ackshully...)

Um, the Hives best of, American HiFi (self-titled), and probably in the near future, the shouty tension relief of the entire Wildhearts "Endless Nameless"-era career swansong...

I may as well jump in with my list of stuff that hopefully you guys have heard of... :)

DJ Shadow: Changeling (Everybody should hear this song at least once in their life!)

Quantic: Time Is The Enemy & Common Knowledge (I seem to be the only person in the U.S. who owns this album...)

David Holmes: Rodney Yates (when I need to boost my "cool quotient")

Deltron 3030: Virus (Rap as it should be)

Dr Octagon: Blue Flowers (see above)

Jeff Buckley: Dream Brother (from the Mystery White Boy live album. One of the best live songs ever, too bad the dumb bastard went and drowned himself...)

New Order: Slow Jam (I LOVE this song)

Strokes: Barely Legal, Last Nite, Hard To Explain (you guys know why these are good. :) )

Clifford Gilberto: Restless (when I need to mellow out)

Miles Davis: Kind of Blue (the whole album, see above x100)

I never listen to the radio, so I tend to cycle through about a dozen discs at a time or so. I'm sure more cool tracks will come to me soon enough. I seem to be in the mood for mostly instrumental DJ-type stuff lately. As if you couldn't guess! ;)

I aim to please. ;)

Hey, anything with Miles Davis in it is pretty much awesome. Check out Dave Brubeck Quartet's Time Out if you want more great jazz from that era.

Dan The Automator is the only one left who can save rap from the sorry, sorry state it's in. He makes every rapper he works with sound that much better. Hell, Del sounds like he went and got a PhD between his last album and Deltron...

That song has the most fantastic organ bridge in the middle of it... although it's obviously done with synth, it drops away into timeless fugue... everything kinda stands still...
