"Love It or Leave It" Nominees

Post by Vin Ghostal »

To further decorate my classroom, I want to put up a series of flyers that say "USA: Love It or Leave It!", each featuring a picture of a prominent person in American history who actually stayed and worked for change instead of following this idiotic mantra (Martin Luther King Jr. would be a good example). Who else would you nominate for this award-winning series...of flyers?

Work on a better slogan first? Some posters that emphasise the working for political change rather than "love it", which suggests being happy with things (and on the basis famous persons fixed stuff already)...

Like working out a how-to of getting involved in local politics (including useful information such as how many seats are required to pass reforms), what changes can be made at a town/state level, etc.

More productive than simply fragmenting those who'd like to see change.
He's trying his damndest.
To do what, exactly?

No, you've missed the point. The point is that so many Americans tell those who call for productive change to "Love it or leave it," where in reality there are many great Americans who have worked for change BECAUSE they love this country rather than simply leaving it. The slogan must stay intact, or the posters make no sense.

No, I think the "point" accomplishes nothing except as a jibe -- unless you've got some other posters with useful information. The important bit's giving people tools to work with.

Presidents... Franklin and Lincoln. Others... Rosa Parks, Muhammad Ali (after 1975), Norma McCorvey. A fairly long list of public figures with much to lose who stood up against McCarthyist policies, although none I can remember OTMH.

Vinny are you a racist SOB?
Once upon a time, there was a little girl who hadn't seen her mother for seven years.
One day, on the way to her mother, she met a wolf.
The wolf asked her if she would be taking the path of pins, or the path of needles.
When the girl said she would be taking the path of pins, the wolf hurried of down the path of needles, and ate up the little girls' mother.

It's generally a bad idea to make huge leaps in logic when you don't know people. SGhost isn't exactly my favourite person in the world and I'm sure the feeling's mutual, but you're basing this charge on... what, exactly? The fact the guy respects a prominent civil rights activist?

Racist? What? Racist? Are you that bloody stupid? What did he say that was racist? I don't recall him saying anything racist.

He's so racist he thinks Martin Luther King aspired to change the country for better. **** me! You're right! He's dawning his KKK hood right now!

****ing tool. Go jump off a bridge.

What is it with people thinking I have some long standing grudge against them when I don't know who they are and said one or two things to them?
