Does anyone remember this?

Post by Ackula »

I had a random memory occur today from my childhood..I have no idea why I thought of this. When I was a kid in the mid eighties I had a couple of small KO Transformers that had alt modes of casino games. One was a slot machine and the other was a roulette table. They were between 3 and 4 inches tall if memory serves me correctly. I seem to recall there may have been more but I'm not sure. Does anyone remember these or know what they were called?

Yes!! That is them...I had the cash register and the pinball machine too! I can remember taking those to school with me in like 2nd or 3rd grade for show & tell

Now I'll have to troll eBay looking for them for the next few months till I satisfy my nostalgic curiosity.

This is great! I remember my friend owning the slot machine and me being a little jealous.

However, I also remember that the slot machine worked -- looking at the pictures now, this seems impossible, and the memory is probably just a sign of my premature aging.

I'm pretty sure it did work actually..and I recall the cash register drawer would pop open and the pinball one had launching ball as well. I recall them all having some working feature.

The one-armed bandit and the roulette one I had, and they both worked - pretty simple stuff, but Hella fun. I lover odd stuff like that.

Yeah, I took another look at the link, and it says that they all worked in some way. I needed to read all of three sentences to see that. :o

But now I'm wondering what the action feature on the Colt was...

Fired live rounds. There's a possible recall afoot.

I really want to believe I had one of these as well after you mentioned it. It's hard to say though..I wasn't sure if the odd roulette and others was real or imagined until I got confirmation :D

Couldn't tell you what they were, but I've seen transforming letters on ebay a few times.

EDIT: If anyone has Monty Carlo [http://www.toyarchive.com/Convertors/Su ... nders.html], Cliffy pay money!

I don't recall that one..but I did have all of these guys.. linky link

Whats amazing is that I had no memory of having them until I just saw their pictures on that site. I'm almost convinced I have some sort of long term memory loss syndrom :eyebrow:

Cute, I'd be very interested in those animals. If someone sees those, drop me a hint, yes? :)

About the transforming letters. Those exist, at least in two different sizes. My own pictures by the way.

Smaller versions seem to be more common, but I happened to get a full set of larger ones from US with a BW lot. I don't seem to have group picture online, but here's a picture of some of them.

I get that all the time... I've pretty much got full recall of which Transformers I had as a kid, but sometimes it'll take until I actually open a Gobot for me to remember having him.

While we're on the subject of other non-TF robot lines, I remember as a kid I used to have a pair of blue binoculars with a red adjusting dial (it was the head and didn't work in alt. mode). When it was a robot, it had yellow legs and blue feet and I'll be damned if I can remember if it had arms or not. I thought it was a Go-Bot but after perusing http://www.tfu.info, I can't find the thing anywhere. Of course, I could also be as blind as a bat.

The only thing that pops to mind is that I had a KO of this Diaclone figure when I was a kid... which is also binoculars. I seem to recall mine was predominatly blue too.

No. That's not it. This thing in binocular mode was nearly entirely blue (if memory serves). What was its head was almost entirely red, IIRC hexagonal in shape, and folded inward becoming the "focus adjusting knob" but really just sat there and didn't do much.

EDIT: Found it. It was a Go-Bot but not listed on http://www.tfu.info.

It's the boxed figure sitting on Thruster in that pic with the Command Center, Thruster, and the collector's case.

I think it's because it's classed as a spin-off/novelty, bit like that Autobot watch they did in the 1980s - http://www.toyarchive.com/Gobots/Arco/Binoculars.html
