Or, for those in the know, ever wonder what it would look like if Dreamwave Productions drew your favorite characters from a Japanese show like "Supergod Masterforce"? Well, we've tagged the creative team behind the Transformers comics to draw their renditions of the Japanese characters that never made it to the States, and we'll tell you everything you need to know about Japanese TF continuity!

in other words, "pat has run out of american tfs to brutalize, so he's been looking for any excuse to get his hands on the japanese characters."

Maybe we'll be lucky, and he won't be attached to this project... ;) *

* Yeah. I know that's wishful thinking. Hey, I can dream, can't I? ;)

on dreamwave's board they said that dreamwave is planning on making Japanese TF continuity into the transformers past, and somehow destrons are the con's ancestors and the cybertron's are the autobots anceasterors. Sounds confusing. Can anyone else confirm this?

Have it here right now (thanx short trip to Melbourne). Artwork is quite decent.

Brad Mick from Dreamwave is quoted as saying, "One of the ideas plays with the notion of [Japanese TFs] as the possible forefathers of the classic G1 characters".

But he says that the only way that they can tinker with Japanese characters is if the fans convince Hasbro to license use of Takara's TFs.

In the glossary in MTMTE #8 they've already listed "Cybertron" and "Destron" as being historical TF faction names so they're definitely considering the idea, but surely it'll require a complete re-write? I was under the impression that the Japanese stories featuring Star Sabre and co. were set in the future of the G1 continuity - am I wrong?

I like the idea. But honestly, it won't be anything new. The old manga art is on par with whatever Dreamwave has put out so all we're really gonna get is colored in mange art.

But still, it could be cool.

Yeah, all Japanese-only stuff set in future compared to US released series.

Well, comics continuity has always differed from cartoon continuity. Japanese TFs may be introduced as having travelled backwards through time to prevent Unicron sowing the seeds of the terrible plague known as Engrish/Japlish...
