The cracks appear to be painted tampographs. The entire setup and lighting looks pretty official.

I got it up. Looks pretty decent. Is this the smaller movie prime? If so, he does not look as good as the leader class prime. NO FLAME JOB PAINT JOB!!! WHY??

I agree. Hasbro does seem to get things mixed up a lot. It is what it is.

Popped up on eBay a few months back. Didn't make much waves as most people initially assumed it to be a custom. Certain hints suggest otherwise, though.

Ah. Aside from the glitteryness, it doesn't look much different from the other one. Maybe it's a lucky draw or exclusive?

True dat. It's probably from the same guys who were giving out the Golden Bumblebee. Perhaps it comes with a coupon for the DVD?

If it was a lucky draw thing, it'd be Japanese. We haven't heard anything about an exclusive Japanese Ratchet redeco thus far, and test shots of Takara toys are still a rare sight. So it's most probably a US thing.

I see. Doesn't seem like it would be much of a marketing success, since the colors look pretty close to the first version's release.

All these pointless repaints, why?!?

I mean I liked the idea of the Thundercracker(Which technically is
a remold), but why make 3 more primes, and future versions of
dead charactures(Brawl, Jazz, Megatron). I am so confused.

Why no protoform bumblebee? HA!

Because it costs a fair amount of money to engineer and produce a mold, and they're going to get everything they can out of it.

I think repaints suck. They should mold them exactly like the movie. I know there is a certain amount of physics involved, but come on! The battle scarred prime looks like someone took a lighter to the plastic.

You want to pay $40 for a Deluxe?

Repaints are good for everyone but obsessive collectors who must have everything. They give the fans multiple options on each mold, as we all have different opinions of what looks cool. They give Hasbro more money and keep the line both alive and profitable. Not putting out repaints does not mean they put out more molds. I have no idea on the figures, yet I would not be surprised if the cost of a new mold equals the development costs of around 10 repaints.

The best way to think of repaints is as "extras" rather than "instead ofs" in the line.

Now if we get to a point that over the course of half a year or so we only see repaints and no new molds that is when we should fear for the line's health.

I would pay $40 dollars for a good quality toy that reflects the movie.

I would even pay $200 for the Master Piece Prime and the whole lot. (if I can even find them).

I guess to each there own, but for example. Why did they change the color of Starscream for the Masterpiece addition the 1st time around? Were the designers color blind? Why not keep things as accurate to the cartoon as possible? I would if I were the toy maker. Makes sense to me.
