Hehehe.

Well, guess they figured the name was better than "Spacewarp" once Hasbro got it back.

Does the fact that he changes from a robot to a spaceship to yet another CRAP repaint still qualify Astrotrain as a triple changer?

Seriously though, I am SOOOO glad that I didn't join that club. Exlusives to me should be special--like ORGINAL molds that you can NOT get anywhere else. Yes, I know that is NOT going to happen because of the cost associated with creating a new mold and the need to recoup costs, but still.

Unreasonable IMO -- unless I missed something there is remoulding (certainly as much as there was between most of the original seekers)... and the repaint looks pretty decent. It just seems a bit silly to be calling the guy Astrotrain when the name is so linked to the alt modes.

You're just a 'protoform'...so maybe just young nuts. :)

I actually liked the neo-GI prototype a lot better. + it tripled changed and who isn't a sucker for triple-changers?

Yup, they're advertising that it has a new headsculpt.

Definitely. If it were based on a deluxe figure (slightly remolded Armada Wheeljack as sideswipe, anyone?) and had a reasonable price (I'm assuming no, since even the joe exclusives seem to be $20 per figure, and the convention exclusives were a bit much, but they might surprize us. Afterall, I think a lot of the Joes' cost comes from cleaning up a nd recasting old RAH molds from 20ish years ago), I might consider joining.

True. I suppose it could be fixed if they made up some cock and bull story about how he was originally named Astros, but because he loves to be faux witty so much, he changed his name to Astrotrain when he was promoted to the position of Decepticon drill sergeant, since he trains the new bots. Add in a throwaway line about how the recruits are too afraid to make fun of him for this, and (viola! [sic]) you have a bio that explains why a character that has nothing to do with locomotives is named Astrotrain. ;)

It's not actually that bad a figure, to be fair.

Why do I like that idea so much?? I know I shouldn't--but that WOULD be funny!

On second thought, they'd have to crank out a few more of those exclusives and/or offer significant discounts as oppsed to retail on non-exclusives to make up for the price of joining.

It's based on an ureleased TRU Universe exclusive. One which people have actually been asking for. So unlike "Energon combiner limb in translucent plastic and with random name", there is actually demand for this.

Astrotrain appeared in several episodes in Season III, so that's still fair game.

The problem is that Astrotrain has never appeared 'out of line', as in, in Armada, RID, Cybertron, etc, instead of G1... which is what was stated previously.

But he is a Triple Changer. He transforms from robot to space shuttle to some bot's trousers (training pants?). Of course, being someone's lower half is meaningless without an upper half.

Quoth TFVanguard:

Perhaps they figure the G1 Classics line is close enough for their purposes.

"Has been seen in the show since the movie". That does not exclude him appearing before the movie too.
