Transformers.com Q & A: Week Of February 9th

Post by Bombshell »

Q: What is the difference between an ARMADA POWERLINX JETFIRE and the standard ARMADA JETFIRE? Does it make a difference when you go to combine them with OVERLOAD and OPTIMUS PRIME?
A: The only difference in these two items is the color. In the TRANSFORMERS ARMADA comic books, when a character gets “powered up,” their color changes. The TRANSFORMERS ARMADA POWERLINX figures represent those characters – powered up and, therefore, different colors.

Q: Will all the toys in the TRANSFORMERS ALTERNATORS line be 1:24 scale?
A: Currently, all cars planned for the TRANSFORMERS ALTERNATORS line are 1:24 scale.

Q: Will the DECEPTICON ALTERNATORS be modified versions of the AUTOBOT ALTERNATORS? If they are new molds, will they still be cars?
A: The DECEPTICONS in the TRANSFORMERS ALTERNATORS line will be alternate versions of previous cars in the line with new parts.

Due to Toy Fair (this week) all new images of upcoming TRANSFORMERS will be posted on Saturday morning.

Hmm, while we at least now know for sure that there will be Decepticon Alternators, I'm somewhat less than pleased that they're going to be nothing more than repaints and apparently won't include weapons of war...

While I agree, I don't think that there are that many offically licensed planes and stuff they can make into Alternators, although we can pretty much chalk it up to "political correctness" when you get right down to it.

I thought they'd get different molds for the decepticons. I wonder if they'll be old characters or new characters. If they are old characters then

Ah, forgot about Hound. Tracks seems like a remolded Sideswipe to me.

Uh, Tracks and Sideswipe are in no way remolds or even slight variations on molds as there's a world of difference between a Corvette and a Viper...

How boring . . . I was really hoping they'd do something more diverse, like not cars. I'm not even a car person. I'm getting Hound, and I may skip out on Tracks-gotta see him first.

From the very start Hasbro said that Alternators was going to be a line of toys based off of liscensed automobiles. So far I've been very pleased with the results, I'm not going to say the line sucks because there's not going to be a realistic Jet toy. I really could give a ****. I like my Smokescreen and I'm sure I'll love the others.

I will say that I don't usually buy repaints though...

(edited for clarity)

I'm just saying that they shouldn't limit it to cars. That takes away from one of the most dynamic characteristics of the tf universe-the diverse possibilities of alt modes.

The TF line is still dynamic. If you want TFs that aren't automobiles there are like 300 other TF lines to buy...

Yeah, but it'd be nice to see some other vehicles get the royal treatment.

I wouldn't expect them to do a 1:24 scale jet or anything, but a jet roughly the size of the existing Alternators would be nice. Any military vehicle really or other device about the size of the others.

The problems I see with it are that there are going to be entirely too many repaints in this line and Decepticons generally aren't cars.

Yeah, their stupidly clinging to the 1:24 scale is another thing that I have a problem with. That gives them an excuse to be lazy, and only do car molds. Not a good excuse, but an excuse.
