I don't know if this is a good thing or not....

I'd have thought Red alert and Starscream were great if they were, say, 12.99, but twenty quid? A pound more and you could get a apir of Car Brothers and a couple of Spychnagers, and chances are have a better toy, as long as you weren't daft enough to buy a paor of Sideburns... Ruination wasn't much more...

I don't suppose it helps that there's about three Armada figures I actually want - I think it's Sideways, Blurr and Supercon ... Optimus Prime... Jetfire looks like a spangly Galaxy Shuttle, Unicron just looks m'eh [how many of you would be excited if he wasn't Unicron?], the Starscream mould's nowhere near nice enough to deserve two variants [mind, neither was the original - and people say RiD Op & Mags ressemble Lego kits...], and even me, lover of dodgy car Transformers who will fight tooth and nail for Rapido over Jazz can't find any appeal in Sideswipe. I'd be tempted to brand Sidey worst TF I've ever seen, but I think Overload takes the biscuit as he costs a bomb.

I've not actually spotted any real differences between the Hasbro and Takara versions at that subtle a level. The Hasbro Armada toys I've got seem to have perfectly crafted logo's... probably because they're made in the exact same factory by the exact same people.
The only differences I know of are that Takara have given slightly different colour schemes to Supermode Convoy, Starscream and Ironhide (Demolishor). And painted Shockwave (shouldn't that be Laserwave anyway?) purple.
The names don't make much of a difference as far as I'm concerned. They've mostly got different cultural contexts. And yes, ML Hot Rod has an LED in his hand to hold the Star Saber.

Well, they're made by Takara, so obviously they're better than anything made by Hasbro.
It must be nice being a repackaging operation, adding a touch of paint to an inherently flawed figure [Shockwave may be nicer colours than Tidal wave, but it doesn't change that he's a big, ugly mess...] and having fanboys acclaim you...

From what I've seen the Symbols look better on the Takara versions.
I actually like the starscream mold. But the Thundercracker repaint doesn't do the character justice, to light I think, but that's just me. I would have loved to have seen slight remolds for all of them (IE: Thundercracker slightly darker, different facial experession, and 2 swords. Skywarp really dark [Black and purple] with no swords, but maybe 2 minicons that attach as guns to his arms ala G1. Then get into some serious remolds for Dirge, Thrust, and Ramjet [Why did they waste those names].)
Oh but I agree on one thing: Sideswipe SUCKS!!!!!!!!! waste of money. His minicon Nightbeat is cute to start then just get irritating and ugly
Edit: Who you calling a fan boy?;) Just saying the figures are better than hasbro's not better all togeather. The worst of Beast Machines are better than Armada. Poor articulation, cr@ppy transformation, and just irritating at times. But I do like the minicons, but I've always like the little TF's. Even Blurr isn't that exciting. Only Supercon prime is decent. But that powerlinx point at the top takes away

I would, he's got more articulation than Air Attack Optimus Primal or RiD Scourge. He genuinely looks to be a great figure. I'm not looking forward to seeing the price tag on him though...
