Shraps, I am with you 110%. The two games together form the greatest platform game ever created...probably the best game ever period. Even now, the music from the Hydrocity Zone (and the insane speed of the thing) are STILL stuck in my head. Best zone overall, in my opinion, was the final Death Egg Zone, which was pretty damn creative for its time.

Let's not forget these classics:
Terra's Theme (FF VI)
Aria di Mezzo Carattere (ditto)
Theme from Zelda
Legend of Zelda - Ocarina Of Time - Gerudo Valley
Ahead on Our Way (FF VII)
Faye Wong - Eyes on Me (FF VIII)

The complete Soundtrack of Crusader: No Remorse. I'd kill to get that as MP3....
I'd kill to be able to play it again, too
Also good:
* Theme from Zelda
* Red Alert Theme
* Bubble Bobble C64. Catchy tune.
* Perfect Dark 'End credit' and "Air Base X"
* Dungeon Keeper Intro
I'll add more if I think of any
Edit:
Warcraft Intro
Warcraft Humans

I'm with you on that one, that music is great.Originally posted by Silly Cow:

But I'd say that my favourite game music is from Street Fighter II, particularly Ken, Ryu and Guile's stages.
strafefox64, you seem to know about this sort of thing - I love the music from the first Secret of Mana game, I know they sell the soundtrack on various anime sites but will it be the music from the US version of the game? I'm not sure if the Japanese version had the same soundtrack...

I'm quite big on just about everything from Final Fantasy VII, but honorable mention goes to the final level from Sonic Spinball. Ooh, and Jaki Crush for the Super Famicom.

First level from Mega Man X2.
Level music from Rogue Leader (See Super Godzilla)
Dracula's boss music in Castlevania Circle of the moon.

Mega Man put here 'till I find a new sig.

Yes, Seiken Densetsu 2 (japanese mana) and secret of mana share the same soundtrack.
btw: the mana+ album is a remixed album, It's kinda hard to recognize secret of mana in it, but I still like, great music.

Some of the most mystical tunes in a game I can recall are from Donkey Kong (the first one) for the SNES (Famicom) - particularly the first snow level music - where as the weather got worse - turned from light snow to a HUGE blizzard - the music got more scarier and moodier as well !!!! Totally cool.
Also, the music from Apiya on the Amiga was so cool it was released as a soundtrack CD!!!!

Wow, you and me are on the same wavelength, Quickswitch. Any FF7 music just rules, and back in the day when I was a kid I remember making up lyrics to Mega Man 2 levels. I think the entire Mega Man series had some damn good music.Originally posted by Quick Switch:
Nods go to Sephiroth's Theme and the Shinra Corp. Theme from Final Fantasy 7(?).
Legend of Zelda Underworld Theme, and most of the Mega Man 2 robot masters themes.

I personally like the music from the Tony Hawk and Twisted Metal games. The Turks theme from FF VII was good too. Also Death By Stereo from Starfighter was good.
