Hey, guys!! Very nice forum you have here! I've been lurking for a bit and this is my first post.
Gee, I love noobs starting new threads just to beg for help...and yet, here I am!
If trades/sales threads belong somewhere else, please go right ahead and move this one elsewhere. Don't mean to step on anyone's toes!
Anyway, I'm looking to pick up the Diaclone, "movie" version blue Ultra Magnus repaint that was released a few years ago. You can see it on Rik Ruff's site here:

If anyone has one available or knows where I can get one reasonably-priced (other than eBay!), please let me know at sanjeev666 at hotmail dot com. Thanks in advance!!

Yeah, provided it stays as "where could I buy?" and people message rather than barter in public if they've got something for sale, it's kosher.
You might stand more chance of getting an original Diaclone than a heavily limited edition Powered Convoy reissue...
They're pretty similar:

Ok, real question this time!
Denyer, thanks for that link. Really cool! Now for more reasonable question, though:
Since this Diaclone reissue is so hard to track down for a reasonable price (and I'd rather have a reissue to mess around with, rather than a valuable vintage Diaclone), I'm thinking of picking up a regular Magnus reissue and repainting it. Afterall, the "Diaclone" reissue isn't even *all* that accurate to the original Diaclone release! I make a lot of custom toy repaints, so repainting it myself shouldn't be a huge deal.
Now, my question: which regular Magnus reissue should I get???
I keep seeing the TRU Hasbro release and the Japanese Takara release...
Hasbro:

Takara:

Is one preferable to the other? I've heard that the Hasbro reissues have had shoddy fit and finish or other problems, such as neutered missile launchers. Is one clearly better than the other???
Thanks!

From what I hear, Takara reissues tend to have fewer changes than Hasbro's. The Hasbro reissue Magnus had shortened smokestacks and ridiculously long missiles that "fired" a terrifying distance of about half an inch.
Then again, if you're painting and customising it anyway, maybe you'd be better off picking up the Hasbro version, which is likely to be less expense. You could look out for a junker Magnus on ebay and add the original 80's parts to make it more authentic.

Hrrmmm...I would have no problem cutting down the missiles and reattaching the "plus-sign" cross-section stem to make them reasonable in length. I think that would be preferable to picking up G1 launcher that, while looking great, NEVER actually shot anything!! Yep, missile "holders"! Ultimately, I definitely want these suckers to fire--maybe the reissue launchers+modded missiles+stronger replacement springs.
Ok, but shortened smokestacks!? That sucks hard. Maybe I'll shoot for the Takara reissue. I found this great breakdown from Denyer's link: http://www.geocities.com/futuristgroup/ ... issue.html
