Light my darkest hour....

Post by Ackula »

I have saved and scrounged up enough funds in my Paypal account from selling a lot of collectibles to finally start looking for my TF Holy Grail and I need your guys/gals help in locating it!

I'm looking for the E-Hobby Ghost of Starscream figure for $100 or less. I know the obvious choice would be ebay, but I'm having no luck. Does anyone know of a place..a website, auction site other than ebay, trading site, an action figure pimp down the road, that has this figure for $100 or less?

Any help or leads would be greatly appreciated here guys....

Um, there's one on eBay right now with a bit less than a day to go:

Why not just get a reissue and paint it clear?

Yeah, I'm watching both of those. Thing is ever time I have ever watched an auction for this figure it ended up going from like $50 to $150 or $200 during the last 60 seconds of the damn auction.

So thats why I was hoping someone might know of a place to just outright buy one for a set price without the hassle of bidding only to get outbid at the last second.

Also...that second auction I wouldn't really want because the guy has already applied the stickers to the figure, and I wouldn't want to do that because it then looks less transparent and thus not as ghostly. I don't really mind the fact that its loose, just that the stickers were applied.

Very, very doubtful you're going to get one retail now -- any seller who knew what they'd got would be hawking on eBay if that's what they finish at.

Look on the bright side, you're not trying to score this set:

Never hurts to ask. A few months ago there were at least two people here claiming that they could be obtained for under $100 on some Japanese or European site...I forget the specifics.

Those lucky draw ones are just ugly in comparison to the e-hobby one in my opinion. I would like to have them, but there is no way I'd ever pay what they would bring for sure. I'd be more than happy just with Ghost Starscream ;)

Maybe for about a hundred quid --

The TF fandom is predominantly English speaking, so foreign language sites might be an avenue to investigate.

I don't see what is so special about that at all, but to each his own.

Yes, definitely go Goog or whatever and patiently search. That's how I found an Armada Starscream Act 9 figure for 50p, so I picked up Red Alert for the same with p&p of £5, compared to eBay rip-off. Don't spurn going off the English-speaking sites, either.

Man, I'd love a Starscream's Ghost....

:eyebrow: It is made of clear plastic....

Anyways, yeah I'm doing a fair bit of googling. So far I haven't turned up a deal yet, maybe I'll luck out on the auction thats ending today, maybe not. Maybe I'll just use the money to buy the Takara reissue #9.....

Auction #1 ended up going for $195. I'm beginning to think I'll never own this figure unless I win a lottery or get a huge pay raise. :(

You're going to hate how useless this message is, but I'm pretty sure I've seen one recently for around $100, it may have been over on TF2005 or Seibertron in the BST threads.
I'd check through my history but I just rebooted two days ago.

To be honest this is the only TF site/forum I frequent. So are you telling me they have a selling section at those forums? If so maybe I should go check it out.

At this point I'm just about to give up and say **** it, buy the Takara #9 or Encore reissue. I really want a G1 Starscream of some sort, and at this point it looks too pricey for the ghostly one.

It's not a great mould, TBH. Then again neither's Megatron and people seem to spend oodles on acquiring it.

Couple went a while ago at TFW --

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/showthrea ... starscream

-- but nothing cheap by the looks of it. Seibertron's search function doesn't give any results for Starscream in their marketplace forum, despite one of the thread titles having Starscream in it...

I'd have to say that I too haunt these pages more than any other (not meaning to be a kiss arse though), although Seibertrons BST forum is quite a nice little place to pick up some odd bits.
I picked up a few bits from there over the last few months(100% Piranacon, 100% Punch/Counterpunch and 100% Brainstorm for around £30)

Am I right in thinking that Takara #9 is Anime Starscream(Im on my way out and cant be bothered digging out the box) If so i certainly recommend getting it -best £16 I've spent on a TF-show accurate colours and the gun mode Megatron really liven it up.
If you get the Ghost I'd still get this as well
Loss of job. Will sell for food here.

Yeah #9 reissue is the anime colors. I've pretty much just decided to find one of those, although the one I was watching on eBay just ended for $110+...which is not too comforting either.

I realize its not a great mould, but Starscream is my favorite character, and one that I always wanted as a kid. So the anti-nostalgia of me never having him makes him the one I do want. I had other seekers as a kid, just never Starscream.

Doing a search on eBay of ended auctions for the #9 one shows a few went for BIN prices well within my budget...now I just have to be vigilant until another pops up with a decent BIN price.

...or hell...I may bid on the loose Ghost Starscream before its all said and done. :glance:

If the clear ones are going for $200 on average, you could always just save up an additional $100. I wouldn't - the mold isn't even $25 great to me - but $200 isn't out of the realm of feasiblity to save up for a limited figure.

As for the Takara book-box reissue, is it any different from the "Encore" reissue that just came out in the last few months?
