As you can see in the direct side-by-side comparisons of those photos how much the airbrushed early prototype stock photos differ from the final toy.
Man, Vector Prime looks like poop.

I thought the original was pretty sweet, even if the robot was a lead-footed brick. thats why i was surprised this new one wasn't more of an homage to the original firetruck mode. its not like it was all that outdated, as i've seen plenty of similarish firetenders in my time across the pond. maybe they were going for a more european look? who knows.Transformer Kamen wrote:Oooooo *stares at pretty*
You know I think that might be one of the best firetruck molds we've ever gotten.

I'm pretty sure there are some other fire engine figures, the name Red Hot comes to mind, though he may have used G1 Inferno's mold...maybe some Micromasters? And TFA Prime most recently.
Anyway, G1 Inferno did have a nice mold as I recall, but I keep looking at this new mold and almost mistaking it for other non-transformable fire engine models I used to have. Either way, he's made it on my to purchase list.

Ooooh, good choice...Nevermore wrote:Repainted from scratch!
In a way, I'm kinda disappointed in Inferno. The toy looks superb, but a) I'd have much preferred a Deluxe closer in scale (robot wise) to Sunstreaker, Bumblebee etc. and b) it just doesn't remind me of the character as much as other Universe figures do. Not sure why.
Oh, and Pyro. So that's, what, 9 fire engines?

Only just noticed the bit about 23cm tall... that's a lot of Transformer for what looks like a simple enough design (and if they've Masterpieced it up for the sake of it, it can piss off anyway). Got to say, generally the Universe Voyagers really haven't impressed me so far, they all look too large. Shame there are so few big-but-not-giant G1 Transformers... though it's a shame they don't think outside the box a little more - a Deluxe-sized Prime with a transforming trailer, or Magnus with armour, would be a fair Voyager, and also have some semblance of robot-mode scale with the other toys.
Mind, to be fair, the robot modes in G1 were a complete headache what with Blaster being not far off Metroplex and so on... it's just two wrongs and all that...

To me, Pyro seems to be a missile-launcher in vehicle mode. Is it SUPPOSED to be a fire truck? It reminds me of a mid-range strategic missile vehicle common to continental Europe. (Forget the designation now). Granted, those are generally olive or forest green, not red, pink, and yellow...Cliffjumper wrote:Oh, and Pyro. So that's, what, 9 fire engines?
