Seattle vs. St. Louis depends on which mad scientist you have more faith in...Hasselbeck is teh suck and Alexander's gonna be too busy whining about the rushing title to pay attention, so it's the Rams.
Green Bay and Minnesota may depend solely on whether Moss actually stays around for the end of the game this time. Only team the Vikes beat during this losing skid (7 of 8 going in) was the Lions on a botched snap. Favre and co. are at home in January, questionable secondary or no, win they shall.
San Diego vs. Jets? J-E-T-S Jets Jets Jets. Or rather, choke choke choke. Anybody remember them being 6-0 at one point? I do. Then they got exposed and haven't been the same since. Gates and Brees were fantasy saviors for me in two different leagues this year, and I think they hook up at least twice on their way to a beatdown of the Jets.
Indy and Denver. Yeah so my parents get to see a playoff team and I don't, but that doesn't mean their effort will be any better than anytime the Lions got in. In 95 Philly wiped the floor with Scott Mitchell, Barry and the boys. I don't see The Snake and Droughns doing much better against Mr. 49 TDs; If the over/under for him is 3 TDs, I'll go with the over. Colts in a laugher.

The Super Bowl came about as a contest between two separate leagues at that time, the NFL and the AFL. Prior to that, the NFL had existed since the 1920's. (First known as the AFPA, changing it's name to the NFL in 1922) Several different versions of the AFL formed here and there, but the one we know today started in the 1940s. Each league operated as rivals, but held separate championships. The rivalry was quite heated and created bidding wars for players and draft picks and finally culminated with the first "Super Bowl" between the two sides in 1967, where Green Bay crushed the Chiefs.

Minnesota (division rivalry - anything can happen)
St. Louis
San Diego
Indianapolis (hoping that Denver wins)
First round winner, folks. 3/4 correct.
Next round matchups are as follows:
Minnesota @ Philly
St. Louis @ Atlanta
Indy @ New England
Jets @ Pittsburgh
My picks:
Minnesota over Philly...the rust of the Eagles and the absence of TO will be the diff here. McNabb was not given a chance to gel with his other receivers cuz Reid was too driven to rest him. And Pinkston's a pussy as well. They have no offensive attack and Minnesota's defense showed up tonight, so I expect they'll pop up there again somewhere.
Atlanta over St. Louis...in part it's not on turf, and in part cuz that ATL defense is so monstrous. Vick may not run roughshod, but I expect the Falcons to pull it out.
Indy over New England...I'm betting against the champs. Go fig. But no Ty Law and a hot Peyton equals a Colts win...the biggest knock on the Pats is that secondary even with Law; without him, they don't have a lot of hope, and expect Troy Brown to get burned cuz of all the time he'll be putting in on both sides of the ball.
Pittsburgh over the Jets...It was close last time, Jets holding a lead at the half, but now the Steelers are healthy and rested and the Jets have too many problems at too many places; mainly an apparent RB disagreement in the coaching staff and the arm of Pennington. Pitt's only lost once, and I don't expect there'll be a second time, at least not this week.

I feel ill...I may not be able to go out in public for a week...
Round 2:
Patriots over Colts: Nice run Peyton, but turn out the lights...the party's over. Belichek owns Manning and no body plays the big games in the playoffs like Tom Brady.
Steelers over Jets: Bettis & Staley...the Steelers will hold the ball for over 40 minutes and run the Jets over.
Falcons over Rams: Greatest show on turf showed me something on Saturday...that their defense blows. Enter Vick and a dominant run team. However, the Rams can move the ball...which Falcon defense is going to show up?
Eagles DESTROY Vikings: This one will be over by half time, TO or not. The defense of the Eagles is too much for Minnesota and TO wasn't a factor the first time they played. Minnesota's defense didn't stop Green Bay, Green Bay stopped Green Bay...the Packers moved the ball at will against the swiss cheese that is Minnesota's defense and then were killed by turnovers. Philly still has McNabb and his most dangerous and underrated weapon in Brian Westbrook.
My Picks...
Eagles over the Vikings
With T.O. out, Westbrook finally has his chance to take the spotlight. McNabb is better than Cullpepper, and he'll prove it this weekend.
Rams over the Falcons
The Rams might not have a great defence, but they're offence is starting to look like the Rams of a few seasons ago. Holt is on fire, and Faulk is finally playing like he is supposed to. This will be a high-scoring game, but the Rams will take it.
Colts over the Patriots
Manning will get his revenge for last year. New England's secondary is too weak to be able to stop him without Ty Law.
Steelers over the Jets
The Jets won't have as easy a time running the ball against Pittsburgh as they did against San Diego. Bettis should be able to run the ball enough to win this one in a low scoring game.

Like I said earlier in this thread, it's a division rivalry. Anything can happen.
I went 3/4. Very surprised the Jets beat the Chargers.
My Picks:
Minnesota - they showed me they've come to play.
Atlanta
Indianapolis
Pittsburgh

Atlanta over St. Louis.
Rams' defense isn't good enough to stop Michael/Mike Vick.
Minnesota over Philly
Philly hasn't played a meaningful game in 6 weeks. They'll be rusty and Cullpepper and Moss will eat them alive.
Pittsburgh over Jersey/B
Steelers are on a roll and nothing is going to stop them (untill next week)
New England over Indy.
Its out doors, and they're calling for snow. That might be the only thing to slow Payton and the boys down.

4 for 4 on my picks! Gets tough from here out...
These two games are tough to call, but I'm going out on a limb...
NFC Title Game: Falcons over Eagles: Atlanta destroyed a bad St. Louis team. I thought it would be a better game. Of course, if you are like me and hate Mike Martz, then it was a good game. Philly crushed Minnesota as expected by me, however that's just it...they beat Minnesota. The reason Atlanta will win is that there is just too much run power on that team. I think this is going to be a close, physical game and as much as I like McNabb, Westbrook and the Philly D, the running game of Atlanta just looks like it could be too much.
AFC Title Game: Patriots over Steelers: I hate to pick between two teams that I really like and I hate making a call on this one at all. However, I have to go with New England. Why? Two words: Tom Brady. Whether you like him or hate him, it doesn't matter. All he does is win big games...hell, all he does is win games period. The Steelers are going into this game with a rookie stud at QB, but he's still a rookie. I have to go with the Patriots in a super close game.

Gloat much?
Atlanta over Philly; until McNabb shows me he can win this game, I ain't picking him. The Vikings were simply flat-out bad today, and the Eagles were better by virtue of at least two lucky breaks that I saw. That won't carry them past Vick and the Falcons' ridiculously powerful D.
Pittsburgh over New England. Lest we forget what the Steelers did to them last time, and after all it's not in New England. Brady's badass, but defense wins championships, and the Pats' doesn't match with Pitt's. I like their chances to force turnovers; they may not bury them early like last time, but they should be able to beat Brady back, and Big Ben's not going to look like a rook this time.
That makes the Super Bowl Pittsburgh versus Atlanta.
In which case, I like the Pittsburgh defense a helluva lot more, esp. when it comes to stopping Vick, which is what you gotta do. Pittsburgh wins its fifth Super Bowl in team history, and Roethlisberger becomes the first rookie not only to start, but win the Super Bowl. Word.

Falcons vs Eagles: Atlanta. As much as I like the Eagles, without TO their offence is a bit under-strength. Against the Falcons' D, that's not gonna cut it. Meanwhile, Vick and the Atlanta offence will be able to put up decent numbers (though not as insane as this week).
Patriots vs. Steelers: New England. Brady is good under pressure. Roethlisberger, on the other hand, looked more jittery than a cat in a room full of rocking chairs this week. The teams are otherwise pretty well-matched, so that could be the difference.
