Because the original action figure and cartoon character never appeared with a gun ever...is that right?

Yeh, even I know the original had a gun (most commonly spotted in the movie, firing at the Cobra-La troopers when Roadblock's team gets ambushed).

That's not what I meant, I meant why the hell does a Ninja need a gun?

These things rarely look right in live action films without some serious tweaking. Stupid, ignorant or not, my first reaction was: "He looks a bit like a Power Ranger, doesn't he?"

My knowledge of Joe stems from the various Transformers crossovers and an Action Force annual, so really I have no desire to see this film. :)

Why wouldn't a ninja carry a gun? It might not be his weapon of choice, but it increases the character's options a lot. Depending on how much things have changed, he's still a soldier. The character was designed as a commando - it was the comics that turned him into a ninja, especially post-TMNT. If he couldn't perform conventional roles as well as DOOD BADASS NINGER STUFF he'd be completely ****ing useless to a small unit like the Joes.

EDIT: Moved to Comics/Cartoons.

Come on, we all know from the TF/Joe crossovers that all you need is a sharp piece of metal to kill giant heavily armed killing machines. No gun can do that!

I personally am loving the pictures there, theyre incredibly close to one of the designs for Snake Eyes (I only really know it from the Devils Due G I Joe comic)

I have a glimmer of hope for the film, mainly cos I actually liked the first Mummy film and these pictures have helped too.

And yes, a gun has always been a staple of the character, why exactly is it stupid for a ninja to have a gun?

Mind control too, IIRC...

Edit: Or mind warping. Possibly.

Because they're far more effective than shuriken?

@Aardy: Yeah, Snake-Eyes is like Superman in that respect with new powers coming out of nowhere. Super-weaving anyone?

If he's assassinating Serpentor? Yeh, probably.

If him, Flint, Barbecue and Airtight are pinned down by a squad of Vipers? Probably not worth the effort.

It is his rifle.

There are many like it, but that is his.

Yeah, but he's Deadpool. He's naturally immune to any rules, such as the Rule of the Fourth Wall.

Ray Park's an ugly bugger though. There's a reason all his roles involve masks and make up...

Yes. It's because he and Doug Jones are the world's first master-criminal/movie-star double act.

They are teh masters of diguiiiiiiiise. Always one step ahead of the law. And the cinema-going public.
