Sorry I'll stop that
Since when do you write novels...I'm the only one who does that round here!Originally posted by Starscreamsghost
I'm working on my third novel and my second screenplay...pure art!
And I'm on my third as well...but it is on the back burner while I make final preparations on my second to get it out into the real world and published...
And Galvy and I are working on a screenplay of sorts...not that we're gonna reveal thing one about it yet, however.

Yes I do in answer to the question, if you want to see what I'm upto it's all on my site (linked in sig)
In brief, I write and have been writing for 9 years - since I was 12 basically - I've had a few things 'published' in magazines, my main genre is heroic fantasy however, I've also dabbled in gothic fantasy & sci fi. I also draw a lot, fantasy based again lol and have been a performing member of a local theatre company for 9yrs with a number of well known shows under my belt.
So I guess you could say I was the "arty-farty" type

Hmmm...dunno if I would say that I truly express myself in the Artwork I do...it'd be scary if I did, as I do mostly Dark/Demonic/Superhero type stuff really as seen on my site if anyone has ever looked there.
But I do help ~*SD*~ in her ongoing RPG story for Swords and Sorcery on her site, as it's a joint effort between us both.
So I suppose I do express myself that way.

200 pages is a perfectly respectable novel...preferable to the overlong meandering tripe that Stephen King has served up in his 600+ efforts...Originally posted by Redstreak
Length, me boy, length...I've had ppl tell me they've written novels only to have it turn out they were just 100-200 pages, which hardly qualifies...
Looking at some of my favourite novels (Fear And Loathing, Fight Club, etc)...frankly, short and stunning is far better than tedious, mediocre and padded.
While that is agreeable, I tend to think a novel as being 300 pages or so; many publishers won't take anything smaller than 250, esp. if it's yer first.
I have one that's 300, one that's 400 that really I could have gone forever on cuz I have so much material, and the in progress one is like 220 or so.

Wasn't Fight Club a first novel?
In my experience (and going by the advice of our staff who've worked in the publishing industry), it's always best to edit ruthlessly anything tangential to your structure. Of course, strictures for submissions are going to be dictated somewhat by the genre a work can be pigeon-holed as for promotional purposes...
