Because if a trade/sale/whatever is made on the site, and something goes sour than the people who run the board might be blamed for allowing the sales to go on. In addition this is a discussion board, not a flea market. I don't think the admins and mods want to deal with the hassle of running an online store.

Basically it's not worth the hassle. Try ebay.

i dont understand that part

if a deal went sour, why would someone try to blame the owner of the board, that makes zero sense

thats like me buying something from you and you not sending my item, then me blaming jim

hahahahahaha

thats silly

If a deal on eBay goes wrong, it's eBay's fault.

Feel free to negotiate off-board. This place was created to provide a forum for discussion, NOT trade.

The big boss doesn't want it, and it's his board. That's the main reason....

BTW, the two thing I hate about this board are Brendocon and Cliffjumper... ;)

it's like if everyone got screwed on ebay, it'd reflect badly on the website in the grand scheme of things...

and like Strafe there said, we ain't a flea market...

NISMOJOE - If the board is allowing the sale of items then there is an implicit understanding that the whole thing is endorsed by the administration. If something goes bad, then blame will be put (And trust me it will) on the admins for not a)seeing it coming, b)Not policing the deals and c)for letting people get ripped off.

Why the heck would admins want to deal with that crap?

why not just make a forum and let everyone go at it

ebay is at fault because they make it their business to look into things if a deal goes bad, hence the credit card registration stuff

since tfarchive takes no records down of anyones personal info, it should be trade at your own risk type of thing

hell, g1 megatron has a trading section, so does seiberton.com

you think either one of them cares what happens to 2 other peoples deals?

also e-bay has strict guidlines on selling with user ratings and stuff whereas here you would end up with people setting up a few alt id's and conning loads of people.

I mean its not hard to do

...I'd be in favour of an area in which people could advertise their eBay auctions, but that's because with this (and a few other on-line auction houses), there's a legally binding contract created, and people have some comeback. Whereas at other places, such as Yahoo Auctions, you don't seem to have that. It would be a lot of work for anyone to mod a forum, checking out every last link.

I'd suggest a sig link, regularly updated with a "last added" date.

also I believe its illegal to allow trade's occur.

And you have to take into consideration that if just 1 person sets up 10 alt ids to rip off people then people would constantly not trust anyone else and the atmosphere would faster than the tone of the last few weeks.

ebay is especially made for this kind of thing.

...pourquoi?

But yeah... basically, there are lots of places already catering admirably to the TF trading community, many of which have safeguards for both buyer and seller.

Just outta curiousity if we have a website w/our stuff for sale, can we put the link to it in our sig?

If we can then maybe that's a good solution for your NISMOJOE.

I seem to recall sale being a bit of a grey area [this might just be my head malfunctioning, I kept on calling Optimus Rodimus all afternoon typing fanfic], but a Trade list link is a definite okay - Denyer does it, and when I had worthwhile stuff to trade, so did I!
