"More Than Meets the Eye" original airdate?
"More Than Meets the Eye" original airdate?
All the online sources I checked list the original airdates for the G1 cartoon pilot as September 17-19, 1984.
Is this confirmed to be the ORIGINAL airdate or just the date when the cartoon was aired as part of season 1?
I'm asking because there's a rather huge gap between the release of the first Marvel issue (April) and the first toys (May) and the presumed first airing of the cartoon pilot.
Does anyone know?

I can't remember any facts or anything useful like that, but I did read that it was transmitted in something like May... It was definitley transmitted some time before the rest of season 1 initially. If only I could remember where I read it, and whether it was a source that has turned out to be full of rubbish (it would seem it wasn't until about 2002 that Transformers facts started appearing on the internet ).

At the time, cover-dates were miles ahead... though I thought it was May myself.

There's a usenet post dating from May 1984 (!) which talks about the content of issue 1.

So it can certainly not have come out after that.

Nice to see TFs making such a good impression with adult readers at the time...

As I remember it the cartoon came out first
1. May 17 1984 at 7:00 pm (yes on in primetime in Colorado)
2. It was split up into a two part mini-series each an hour long.
3. When the toys came out a month and a half later the kids in school that didn't get to see the show had no idea what it was that I brought to school. (Starscream).
4. Almost four months later did I see any comics and the first one I saw faetured Gears acting a little darker than an Autobot should and also that it was Buster that appeared and not Spike.

Gears... then that'd be #3 of a bi-monthly series. Anyone up for working out the maths involved there?
