Latest word is the movie is now about an aspiring ballerina who must save the world with dance, and makes love with a giant robotic squid.

Sadly I had been waiting 6 years for this. I think it would still be good for B movie laughs. There really wouldn't be much of a way to make a good looking live Action Dragonball movie. There's just not enough of an audience for it to justify the budget it would require.

Looked fine to me. Something I'm missing?

In order for it to be a Dragonball movie, there has to be 70 minutes of staredowns while screaming, 10 minutes of action, and then setting up the next story arc in the final 10.

I am rather upset that they changed it so much from the cartoon :( who knows? it may turn out to be a pretty good movie or a really crap one as its appearing to be...

Your enthusiasm is reassuring.

I’m getting kind of the same vibe from this that I got from the DOA movie.

It’ll probably be good on it’s own but I don’t think it will be comparable to the anime and manga.

Anime when it was called Manga.

Strictly the sort of stuff you could only enjoy in your youth. Now you are amazed at how you enjoyed several hours og two people saying "I see you are holding back your true power/ I must level up" before an admitted kick arse fight for 3 minutes.

Saying that this is possibly based on Dragon Ball NOT Dragon Ball Z as we are assuming. Dragonball actually had a storyline and everything and might well lend itself to a translation outside of anime.

I thought about that. Other that Piccilo there appear to no Sayains, robots or aliens so it could be based n the original Dragonball rather than 'Dragonball Z' which could be good.

So, just to clarify a touch. It was originally a comic and later became an animation. The comic is a lot faster moving and contains what in animated form was called Dragonball and Dragonball Z.

If it looked fine to you that's because it looks like a reasonable sequel to Bulletproof Monk. It doesn't have any of the look of Dragonball, so is a bit of a waste of a license. But, as Blitzwing mentioned, it would border on impossible to make a good-looking and faithful Dragonball movie. Also, from the soundbytes in the trailer, it didn't seem like Goku's personality is anything like the comics.

I'm only going to see it if the fight scenes are truly epic like the anime...and if Goku does a kamehameha.

I have a feeling this will be just as dissapointing as the Street Fighter live action movie, and Mortal Kombat Annilation, or whatever the bloody hells it was called. I will pass on this movie, even though I was a fan of Dragonball more than Z or GT...

GT started to lose me near the end of the Dark Dragon saga. At that point I was just watching the show for closure.

And then they came out with A Hero’s Legacy. I hated it:down:

Just watched.

The best I can muster is a sarcastic chuckle. A shame, as I really like Dragonball (not Z or GT, couldn't stand either of them) in both Manga and Anime.

But hey: still got Mortal Kombat 3 to look forward to....... hang on, where did that one vanish to?

i prefer the animated spawn from HBO back in the late nineties. most comic accurate and each disk was like a movie instead of episode list.

I always thought the final fight scene between Neo and Agent Smith in Matrix: Revelations would be perfect for a dragonball movie. I was waiting for Smith's hair to pop up and go blonde the whole time.
