Hasbro has announced plans to create a "live action" film adaptation of the series. It is currently in the planning phase. If the project moves forward, the film will most likely have a theatrical release date in late 2013 or early 2014.

I've finally got off my anus and edited the title accordingly. I'd be outright shocked in BW is revived any time soon, let alone as a live-action film. While it was popular in its' day and stands up as a good series, the "all-animals" ethos looks like an aberration now after a decade of the franchise mainly dealing with vehicle Transformers with the odd animal thrown in.

I presume it'll be the Waynas brother not busy filming the eagerly awaited by Cliffy GI Joe 2. I'm a bit worried about Hitler though, I mean, the last good film he did was The Great Dictator, and that was years ago. The joke in those youtube videos he did set in that bunker got old real quick as well.

I thought Downfall was terrible, I didn't laugh once and he didn't even do his trademark funny walk. Easily the worst thing he ever did. Much like Steve Martin it's a shame to see a once great comic talent go to waste.
Still, if he's got the balls to fill Hugo Weaving's not inconsiderable shoes more respect to him. And his Red Dwarf cameo was mildly amusing.
I've also heard on the grapevine that Gary Chalk is going to make an fan pleasing cameo as a caveman. His grunting will sound suspiciously like "MUNNNNKY NUUUUT TRRRRUUUK".
