But what makes him superior to Sixtrain?
Not having bits of him called Windy and Desire. I mean, Joe's funny ha-ha, not funny Fallen One. That and Takara not buggering his colour scheme around so they could release another worthless redeco.
More proof of Sixliner's awesomeness can be found in the Japanese manga-type thingy: -

His only enemy is The Crease.
Now, technically how are the Duocons gestalts again? (And although I in no way remembered that earlier, IIRC the Op:Com combiners weren't gestalts either - weren't they just one big robot that split into six modules, thus justifiying my selection of Sixliner?).
Sorry, way too rational.
Heli-Transer for the win!!!!!!
The best Gestalt character is Devstator! So many good moments with Devastator in the old cartoon series. Who can forget the episode where the Autobots get control of Devastator and later on fry his brain, making Devastator go insane? He starts rampaging Decepticons and Autobots allike, actually whacks Starscream, and 5minutes later when Optimus is talking with Megatron to resolve the situation, Starscream runs past shouting:
"It's a trick, don't listen to him!" Runs up to Devastator;
"Devastator! Help!" And he turns around and blasts Starscream with his eye beams. Who can forget moments like that?
Or in the Movie?
"Prepare for Extermination!"
Aah, good times.
My favourite Gestalt toy is Defensor though. He doesn't wobble or anything like that when you play with him, he's solid baby!

I'm glad you ask!

Fuction: Assault Team
See? Team! With a combined robot mode.
And the tech spec. Okay, so lots of people argue with themselves - but it makes specific reference to each part being legitimately entitled to partake in this argument, rather than "he's crazy and suffers from MPD or something."
Which means both bits have their own personality. Which makes him a gestalt. Which means I'm awesome and so win at the internet.
Or... alternatively

QED, bitches!A physical, biological, psychological, or symbolic configuration or pattern of elements so unified as a whole that its properties cannot be derived from a simple summation of its parts.

I have to agree with ColdBain about Devistator ... the first and the best.
As for Computron's intelligence, I'm not so sure. While it is true that he seems very intelligent, it is also seems the case that the gestalt was so overwhelmed by his super computer functions that he had very little personality.
Or put another way, if I were a gestault giant, Computron might be smart but Devistator would be fun to go out and slam back a few energon infusions with, maybe followed by a little target practice and then low brow humor at some Seeker's expense.
